Would Flyer fans be open to trading a d-man for a top 6 winger?

If so, which d-man would you be most comfortable trading?

EDIT: I want to rephrase that. Which d-men are you willing to be part with for a top 6 winger?

Carle and Bartulis, that's about it.

Depends on the top 6 winger.

Couturier imo makes your team. He won't start out as the #1 centre. He is projected to be like a jordan staal. 3rd or 2nd line centre at best.
I have heard the comparisons to jordan and eric stall and jason allison. I have not heard or read anything anywhere about projecting him to be a third line center, but rather at worst to be a 3rd line center.

Hockeys future projects him to be an impact nhl forward.

And this scouting report projects him to be a number one 2-way center: (last paragraph second sentence)http://www.thescoutingreport.org/sea...draft-profile/

I'd say put Simmonds up to 1.75M and switch Talbot and Nodl on the 4th line (RW and LW) and that is what I'd like to see.

Kinda in this order:

Love Miettinen - good checker, can chip in with a goal evry so often and is Finnish. We do well with Finns here.

How could anyone be anti Miettinen?

Thank you I will be here all week, please tip your waiters and waitresses.

Defensive accountability of the forwards will certainly be a concern. Hopefully they can hold their own; it will certainly be something to watch over.

I'd rather resign Zherdev for ths same money. He's younger, has higher upside (his potential has yet to be reached) and about the same scoring percentage and a plus player.

I don't get the Zherdev HATRED. I understand you can not like him as a player, but he potted 16 goals in a ridiculously limited amount of ice time. He had flashes of brilliance here (as well as flashes of laziness.)

There is a clear reason why he got limited amount of ice time... and why no body has signed him yet.

And why nobody signed him the prior year and he ended up in Russia....

And why nobody wanted him when we were trying to give him away last year...

He is a waste of space

No no I'm not saying he deserves a contract, but really hating him and refusing to bring him back at dirt cheap?

Why did he drop so much in the draft if he was 2nd at one point?

Seemed to be a combination of reasons. He missed a bit of the season because of mono, which affected his production. Plus, once a player is at the top for a while, scouts tend to search in his game for a flaw. Same thing happened to Adam Larsson, which let the Devils snatch him up.

Fair enough...

What about:

FORWARDS
Scott Hartnell ($4.200m) / Daniel Briere ($6.500m) / Jaromir Jagr ($3.300m)
James Van Riemsdyk ($1.654m) / Claude Giroux ($3.750m) / Jakub Voracek ($2.250m)
UFA ($???) / Sean Couturier ($1.654m) / Wayne Simmonds ($1.500m)
Maxime Talbot ($1.800m) / Blair Betts ($0.700m) / Andreas Nodl ($0.845m)
Jody Shelley ($1.100m) / Tom Sestito ($0.550m)

DEFENSEMEN
Kimmo Timonen ($6.333m) / Chris Pronger ($4.921m)
Braydon Coburn ($3.200m) / Matt Carle ($3.437m)
UFA ($???) / UFA ($???)
Andreas Lilja ($0.737m)

GOALTENDERS
Ilya Bryzgalov ($5.666m) / Sergei Bobrovsky ($1.750m)

CAPGEEK.COM TOTALS (follow @capgeek on Twitter)
(these totals are compiled without the bonus cushion)
SALARY CAP: $64,300,000; CAP PAYROLL: $55,849,761; BONUSES: $2,550,000
CAP SPACE (23-man roster): $8,450,239

I give you almost $8.5m (more if you don't take 23 men, lose Shelly or use a different 7th D) in cap space and have traded Schenn and Meszaros for whatever you want, reckon you can plug all those gaps on free agency (personally Hannan and Babchuk on D and whoever on 3rd) for under that cap with (relative) ease... tweak it around to add in whatever you traded for and you're laughing...

I agree. Give us time to idolize and overrate him, create unrealistic expectations, hate him for not meeting them, spew bile over whatever he is signed to in his next contract, order his trade for the proverbial bag of pucks, and then declare apocalyptical gloom when he is traded / signs as a FA elsewhere.

No, that wouldn't make any sense. They shouldn't touch the defense unless it is a trade to upgrade the defense.

They just traded a top 6 Winger in Versteeg. Why, I'm not sure at this point.
