As in traded right now, or over the course of the summer?

Although, take into account who tweeted that.

Can't let Wolski go without bringing in another forward. Wolski is someone I'd consider getting a shot on line 1.

Even RangerBoy was tricked by that -- I recognized it from when he was posting the twitter catfight between that account and Brooks.

No, the Rangers have been doing everything right, sans signing THE WRONG UFA's to ridiculous contracts. Ridiculous contracts are only ridiculous when they're given to players who don't even come close to being worth them, like virtually every "big name" free agent that Sather has signed. See, there's the trick: most of them weren't actually big names. They were role players. The few that were big names had ceased being big names long before they got to NY.

I'm going to be extremely skeptical throughout this season and deservedly so. In no way am I going to think by simply adding Richards that the Rangers will be a 100-plus point top seed in the conference. In fact, I think we were heading in that direction without Richards. In my mind, simple "effort" wont cut it anymore. I want to see 30 goals and 90 points.
Who said that simply by adding Richards we were a top seed? But I don't see how you could think we were heading in that direction (at all) without him, and think that we're worse off with him.

Quote:
Richards has never played in a big media market. He's never lived in a city like New York. The only time he's ever been the focal point of the media is when he's been traded or rumored to be traded. He's already proven to one team that he couldnt live up to the first big contract he signed, and when the team was losing they opted to trade him away rather than MSL or Vinny despite offers being made on all three of them.
Come on. When will people stop propagating this myth? No one cares about hockey here. There is no big media market as far as the Rangers are concerned. 4 beat writers who write a 200-300 word article that's buried in the sports section does not equate to media pressure. He's not going to be the focal point of anything except Larry Brooks, Andrew Gross and a couple of guys who don't even know the sport they're covering. Also, he wasn't traded because he failed to live up to his contract. He was traded because Lecavalier was more marketable to the fanbase than Richards was, and because Richards' contract was enormous. That's Feaster's fault, not his.

Quote:
I kinda liked how the young guys carried the team last year while Gaborik decided not to show up at all.
Carried the team to what? Another first round playoff exit? When the team does absolutely nothing to put the player in a position to succeed, which this club has a history of doing of late (Drury), it's pretty hard to say that he didn't show up at all, IMO.

Quote:
I certainly will welcome the guy with open arms because he now plays for my team, but my God, if he becomes another Drury/Redden/Holik/Gomez/Kamensky/Fluery/Kasparaitis/Quintal etc, then the NHL should ban any Ranger GM from signing anybody not homegrown to any long-term deal.
Richards could turn out to be a COLOSSAL failure. Just a massive anchor of a contract, and it would still be ridiculous to be upset at the fact that the contract was handed out, or to begin comparing it to those deals (though I'm sure plenty of geniuses around here will start to do that the moment he hits any kind of slump). With the exception of Fleury, NONE of those signings made sense. NONE. They were all clearly destined to fail. This signing makes sense. There is logic and reasoning to support it, where those things were not present in the aforementioned moves.

Few things in sports, as in life, are guaranteed. There is a risk factor to everything. But the risk/reward ratio in this acquisition is SO much higher than it was with any of those prior moves.

Yeah, but have they been rocking that pic in their avy as long as I have. I know that pic is one of the first ones. Know why? I found it first. I've been sounding that Callahan horn a long time, brother.

Some day, our avatars will be videos, and I'll be able to broadcast a young, still not in his prime, Ryan Callahan schooling overrated and annoying Dion Phaneuf, Jean-Sebastian Giguere, and the lowly Laughs every time I post. I'd post a lot more on the main boards.

You should post on the main boards more. Every time I see someone try to start an argument with you I just look forward to seeing them get utterly crushed. Seriously, you make dumb fans look like imbeciles.

Whenever I see anyone mention Gomez I just wait for you to come in and crush their hopes and dreams.

I would go on the main board more often if I knew Sting was there to embarrass half the people that post there.

I think some Devils fans need some schooling on cap circumvention and Brad Richards .

People who are worrying about the NMC in the last 3 years are nuts. There IS valid concern for the NMC when he turns 35 or so though. If he does decline he isn't going to walk from that much $. I would say richards already has his retirement date written in on his calendar. He's not playing for 3 years at a million each. This is different from drury. He was getting 5 mil in ONE year. That's a lot to walk from.

I would say richards is retiring after the 6th year even if he doesn't decline. He's not going to play for basically free.
