What can 11 players accomplish? Am I missing something?
Isn't this camp in particular oriented more towards how to be a pro, what to expect from the organization, what the team wants them to work on, goals for next season etc..?
I think that players are only allowed to attend one development camp per summer, which is why there are so few people; all of them attended the one in June.
NCAA players can attend more then one game. Joe Stejskal was at the development camp, the rookie camp and then the main trainging camp (because he was considering turning pro and Dartmouth is the last school to start up the Fall semester)
Well at least Pateryn and Bennett can talk to Didier about playing against him in the fall if DU faces Michigan this year, I know they didn't last year but the schedule isn't out yet for next season. I wonder if Bennett knows Suillvan since they both played in the Northeastern prep league, although I don't know where Suillvan played 2 years ago when Bennett played there)

isnt that only for the ones playing in american university's ?
11 players is also half a roster. 11 doesn't sound so bad if it allows them to be better evaluated and get better help. I don't see how this is such a big deal.
MAGodin Marc Antoine Godin
McFadden, un D de 6'0 et 200 lbs, a été 1er marqueur à Sudbury avec 19 buts et 72 pts. Il a aussi affiché le pire différentiel du club (-31)

This is exactly it. It really doesn't matter how many players are going as much as who is going and what they learn. I'm impressed that all the 2011 draftees are attending, hopefully they will get some good advice and learn new things to work on next season.

With stats like that would be a good guy to sign...+- is not a big deal taht team sucked
John Westin's the player that intrigues me the most. He may end up being just that - a last round shot-in-the-dark pick but, he may also be a pleasant surprise. Not necessarily a Halak or SK but maybe a bat-out-of-hell high-flying prospect.
On CKAC they pointed out it was the first half. There should be 22.
No it's not. CKAC don't know ****. This is the 2nd half of the prospect developement camp. But this year, it's the smallest group ever. Don't' know if it will always be like that now but it's going to be way less interesting than it was in the past. Surely, they don't want to be involve in a prospect tournament, which sucks, but could be understandable. Just wish that they would have waited to have all prospects together for 1 week so they'd be able to not only work on things but give something to the fans....

We, prospects followers, are interested in these camps, but most fans are casual ones/only know of 1 or 2 prospects and don't care about them until they dress in le tricolore jersey.
They won't organize something that won't garner interest/profits from the majority. What the org should do is make it more eventful like you described and promote the hell out of it.

I'm not sure if putting the kids we just drafted right in the habs fishbowl is a good idea for their professional development.

I'm thinking more of a family/relaxed event. Limited media harassment. It's all about the players when they get down to work on skills and tactics. Then they can have fun little competitions between the players (accuracy/one-on-one handling skills show-off/shooting pucks through hoops on fire.. okay that one is ridiculous, but you get my point).
That way, this camp serves its purpose: welcoming the new additions, observing how they handle themselves and working with the trainers. Aaaand fans enjoy it/the org makes profits.
It might be too much, but if they do 1 camp after the draft like Whitesnake said, it can be a full weekend event.
How was Mcfadden not drafted???!! 6'0 200lb defenceman with 72 points in 67 games! Ya, the minus 31 was glaring, but still....
Could be a big steal if we sign him and develop him. This guy may be a late bloomer.
from what i read he is not great defensively as show by his terrible +/- ratting. He is not so reliable in his own end. But taht is probably because he concentrates too much on his offensive skills. Perhaps he still has time to improve his game and become more rounded.
