I think he played the off-wing when he came up with White and Desharnais a couple of years ago. If Eller isn't ready for the beginning of the season, we could see something like Trotter, Desharnais and Kostitsyn on the third line.
I guess this is our gritty signing for our bottom 6?
I must say, I really thought Gauthier was going to sign someone who can win face-off's and fight. Maybe he will still will, but I am not holding my breath.
You know that he's going in Hamilton, right? PG has to adress Hamilton's needs to. It turns out, they need offensive veteran. Trotter wanted to come back in NA, we still own his rights, we sign him.. capiche?

He might be better than Pouliot in that role.
I'm pretty sure he could outproduce Pouliot on the 3rd line...what he has less in size he makes up by quickness and working harder.

I don't think he automatically goes to Hamilton. Eller will probably start the year on IR plus we could carry 23 players.

Trotter doesn't exactly have the fleetest of feet nor is he the hardest worker. In fact, Pouliot would be quicker. Trotter's game is producing points. He'll likely get an opportunity with the big club at some point in the season.

Right !
Maybe JM will ask White to play center (as he was in Junior) with Moen and darche or a tough guy they could (must) sign

Trotter is quick, not blazing fast. Quickness is needed to produce in the NHL for smaller players(Recchi).
Don't be - unless you are a Hamilton resident and a Dogs' fan -
Farm clubs performances don't really matter for their NHL parent club. The development of individuals matter the most.
Last season, hamilton almost went to the Finals, but how many of its players are NHL bound ?
It's good for the players playing in Hamilton to have a good team. You learn more from playing with good players on a good team than a bad team.
I don't really care if they win the calder cup, but it usually means there's a bunch of good prospects if they do.
I vaguely remember Guy Boucher saying that he though Trotter would be a good player in the NHL one day. I know he said things like that about DD too, but I'm pretty sure he specifically pointed out Trotter too.
I think Whitesnake is a bit more happy now for Hamilton. I know I am.

Just too busy jumping around...now that I'm settled....good news!
But I hope there's more coming. But it's a very good first step. We just can't underestimate the idea to have a great team in the AHL for all the youngsters coming.
I think just about everybody expected it to be two way, he hasn't earned a one way ticket yet.

I'd be shocked if he made the big club, assuming Eller is good to go at least and there's no other injuries to our forwards.

He would have to clear waivers to go to Hamilton, we'll have to see what the numbers are if he would have to clear recall waivers.

Skating has always been one of the biggest knocks against Trotter. Hopefully he has improved enough to be able to play effectively at the next level.
Agreed, unless he really improved in Russia, it isn't his strong point. Plus his lack of strength is a big concern imo unless he really got stronger over a year. But he always would find ways to put points on the board, playing with Desharnais helped a lot so we'll see what he can do on his own now.

Perhaps he could be a call up if injuries hit, I'd be shocked and concerned if he was a regular though.
During the mini-call up in 09-10 when we called up the entire top-line from Hamilton (Trotter-Desharnais-White) I was most impressed with Trotter's play.
So needless to say I am happy to see he's back in our system, I think he's someone who could produce half-decently in a Top-6 scoring role at the NHL-level in a call-up situation. The talent is there, the goal scoring ability is there.
