What ???? Do you already see him play ? What's this idea that when a guy is big and physical he can't play...

It would be a great signing (13th forward)

Plus, if sign a 2 way contract, theres no risk*. Other that fits that mold are Winchester and Konopka.

We need one of those 3

I don't have much of a problem signing Jacques as a 13th/14th forward.

Pretty sure I saw someone on my Twitter feed thinking out loud about the possibility so he probably got it from there.

I wouldn't exactly advocate it, but I wouldn't be completely opposed if the price tag was low enough. I think there's a decent chance he would be able to feed off the Bell Centre crowd and have a good season. Markov-Kovalev on the powerplay would be nice to see again anyways.

But it's Eklund so he'll probably go back to Russia. I'd be shocked if Gauthier considered this option for a second and quite honestly I don't know where he'd fit into the lineup.

I wouldn't mind Jacques at all, he's big, mean, lay big hits and will fight anybody, ok he's not a very good hockey player, but I've seen worse... and Kovalev, hope it's not true

It says that JFJ can play hockey. You'd be hard-pressed to find many players that deserve the label of scrub as much as this guy.

a power play of

Kovalev Plekanec Cammalleri
Subban Markov is pretty tempting

Plus he could play on the third line with Eller and Kostitsyn

I'd rather start the season with Andrew Conboy on the roster than Alex Kovalev. He's a ****ing awful hockey player.

Is Jacques a better player then Konopka? Considering was the 4th best faceoff guy in the league last season.

There is only a few penalties per game. You still have to play a lot of ES hockey and Kovalev was just awful at ES. No more Kovalev please.

he'd replace Pouliot's offense, and take way less penalties. I don't see how it's harmful to have one guy like him in a room full of leaders to keep him in line. 3rd/4th line with PP time would really make us dangerous.

I'm pretty sure that at this point, there will be an even bigger group walking in front of the Bell Centre to make sure that Kovalev do NOT come back...

Everybody in this league know how Kovalev works on the PP and its not working anymore since he lost a bit of everything, he is slow like a turtle, cant follow the pace at even strength, bref he is finished and Im not even sure a KHL team will be willing to spend alot of money on him..

kovalev is a different persona. he's a bit of a diva. he's l'artiste. he can't play 2nd fiddle nor would he like being "kept in line" by others. we lack things (being more physical, faceoffs) none of which kovalev can contribute.we need a role player. i dont think kovalev would have a role on this team.

So what's wrong with Kovy, if he comes on the cheap?

The man has skills...

I have no problem with him on the third line, able to play top 6 if needed.

And the same with Dumont, if he comes cheaply, I'd love to see him get a chance in Montreal.

Both Kovy and Dumont have little to lose and lots to gain, if they can perform well. Why not give either of them a shot? Who else do you want in their place?
