Obviously, I think Stamkos and Purcell signings are inevitable and a top-6 addition is a priority. It will be interesting to whether the org decides to replace Bergenheim with an internal or external solution.
How about a trade for Loui Eriksson on the stars. He would have to waive his no trade clause but Dallas needs to shed salary.

Something along the lines of

To Dallas: 1st round Draft pick, Carter Ashton, Dana Tyrell

To Tampa Bay: Loui Eriksson

That would plug the hole on vinny's left for a long time and he is a huge upgrade from Malone who then becomes expendable.

Dallas doesn't need to shed salary, they just lost Richards...

Nope. Overpayment.

Besides, as newham said, Dallas just lost Richards, they don't need to shed salary.

That leaves Kubina and Clark. Not sure how much value Kubina has left after his concussion, his lack of speed and his mediocre play in the regular season. Probably not enough to address the holes in our top-6 (and that's assuming we re-sign Stamkos and Purcell). Clark+x could fetch something nice tho.

Not too much. Clark did put up 31 points last year and is only on a one year 1.5M contract. Would probably be VERY easy to trade Clark if we wanted to, and if we added something like a 2nd round pick I dont see why if we had the right trading partner we couldnt get a top 6 forward.

Does anyone else think it would be hilarious if as soon as SFY locks up Stamkos, he sends an offer sheet to Doughty or Yandle etc?

Clark is really a bottom pairing d-man on almost every team who wasn't even a regular the year before he played with us. He is definitely priced well and could garner interest from other clubs, but I don't think there's a chance in hell that he'd be the primary piece in a deal for a top 6 forward. Clark and a 2nd might fetch a 6-9 type of guy, but I don't see many teams in a position to make a move like that.

I hope I'm wrong though, because I'm pretty underwhelmed with the offseason so far. I get being patient, but there are a lot of intriguing guys off the board now, and the only way I see us being better than last year's team is through trade.

What's funny to me is that I think Saprykin Fan was replying to my Stamkos roster, because of the use of the sarcasm smiley.

i don't have a particular name........ but i would bet it would be clark that they are going to move, my guess is once stamkos signs they will see how much salary they need to shed to sign purcell. it is going to be a good fight for the 5,6,7 spot with gilroy, vernance, petiot, gervais, bergeron.

It's looking pretty full already.

Downie-Stamkos-St.Louis
Purcell-Lecavalier-Malone
Tyrell-Moore-XXXXXXXXX
XXXXXX-Thompson-Hall

Keep in mind that Pyatt, Jones, Ashton, Wright, Ouellet and others will be competing for a spot on the roster.

Hedman-Brewer
Clark-Kubina
Ohlund-Gilroy
Bergeron-Gervais

Steve, do something please!

Unless Stamkos will take about 15million () they won't have to shed ANY salary to fit in Teddy

I really wish we had 1 more winger that could substitute into the top 6 when others weren't playing well. I wish we could have held onto Gagne.

That winger is Ryan Shannon who did it in Ottawa and did it quite well the last 1/3rd of last season after trades and injuries.

But he did it for Ottawa, and...well, they're Ottawa.
