If you're right, I hope this is because of strong play and not Mason's utter collapse.

*fingers crossed*

The proper goalie lingo for referring to a goalie who catches with his right hand is a "Full Right" Goalie.
I'm aware, I thought it best to simplify things for some reason.

I think by December it would naturally be due to strong play from Dex. It seems that Mason is on a short leash to begin the season. Dekanich is a guy who has proven himself in the minors after going the college route, he's got some experience. He was stuck behind one stellar keeper and a promising prospect in Nashville. I'd imagine that he's going to want to prove Nashville wrong, and assuming Mason starts the season opener (although I'm not sure why that's being assumed) the next Nashville game is Dec. 8, which fits pretty closely with the timeline being discussed.

I have a feeling this is a very good, under the radar signing.

No ****. If Mason collapses again, it might be time to consider a buy-out. I'm not a CBJ fan, but I have full faith in the kid. But sometimes with goalies, it takes a complete drop to the bottom before they can get their head in the game correctly.

But again, I wish nothing but the best for Steve in Columbus; he was so good in juniors and at the WJCs. Probably rushed, but I really hope he turns out (much) better than Brule, Klesla, Picard, etc.

edit: hopefully he rebounds like Mr. Price in MTL tho.

Dekanich played for my favourite junior team, the Coquitlam Express of the BCHL. I'm really happy to see more alumni in the NHL!

I know stats arent everything, but Dekanich has better stats than Cory Schneider did at the aHL level. Certainly not a bad pickup.

So when I saw this, I ran to the cabinet to see what was written.

I was reading that. He also said that he likes to incorporate Dexter from Dexter's Laboratory on all his designs, and said something about "Dexter in civil war garm"... and asked for suggestions. I think we need to create a "suggestion thread" for him and tweet it to him with some design ideas for him.

Also, I saw another post that someone comments to him that said "Dexter as a cannoneer to "Fire the Cannon!" or Dexter on the front of the helmet "Carrying the Flag" into battle.

I think that'd be awesome. Dexter in a civil war outfit carrying the CBJ flag.

I think we need some of our ever talented graphic artists to work it up

Dexter firing the cannon - but the cannon is for when the CBJ scores, and this guy is our goalie. Not really good juju there.

He should have Dexter in Union Blue fighting Dexter's rival, Mandark, who is in Confederate Grey.

I have the sneaking suspicion he'd like to bring back the green...

(red+green=brown Just sayin', it's not my favourite color scheme.)
But then again, what do I know?

Maybe he should have a Pam Anderson theme ... like, instead of having Dexter fire a cannon, he should have Boomer firing shots in Pam Anderson's direction.

You know, of T-shirts.

I'm sure Pam Anderson likes T-shirts ... and she's Canadian, so I'm sure she loves hockey.

My sole reservation is his lack of NHL experience - the one time he played last year it was in the middle of one of the lower points of the Preds' season - Lindback had given up 3 on 9 shots, and Rinne was injured, so he went in and the Preds still lost 6-1.

Still, the guy's been absolutely amazing in the AHL. .931 SV%. I'm pretty sure he's ready.

I would've preferred Theodore or Hedberg, but I will gleefully take Dex.
ditto, this guy has put up incredible numbers the past 3 seasons in the AHL, and was a very good college goalie as well. Sure the lack of NHL experience is a downside, but as a 25 year old goalie prospect this guy is very appealing.

He is ready for an NHL 2nd goalie job. If Mason stumbles, I see a very eager, young, talented Dekanich ready to step in.

It is a situation so many have wanted. A young talented goalie to push Mason to be as good as he can be or to displace him if he cannot recover his previous form. Most figured that we would have to trade for that person and such a trade would be expensive, Cory Schneider was a name brought up with some frequency. And here we have one; signed as a free agent, no expenditure of assets and inexpensive as well. I like the idea of stepping beyond that same old, same old, veteran backup guy. Really sounds like this guy could bring some fire to the position to say nothing of competition. Monitored and orchestrated by the new full time goalie coach.

i'll admit, when first announced, I was hesitent on someone with such little experience...but then I thought about it that we tried the vet backup route with Garon...so its time to try something else...i'm warming to it...especially the way he's constantly tweeting....makes you kinda warm up to him...

My guess is this will be the most important decision for next season. If he picked a backup that will help push Mason, then we will see good things. If he is inconsistent or 'not NHL ready' and Mason looks like last two seasons Mason, all the other signings won't matter. Should know by December.
