Season is over 3 months away, lets all relax. Gauthier knows we need a bit of grit. Have faith

Konopka To Ottawa for 700 000
Konopka openly said he wanted to play for the Habs, how could Montreal not match that offer from Ottawa?
Konopka is big can fight and play hockey.
He had over 300 minutes in penalties and was I think 4th best faceoff man in the league!
He also played some PK!
Montreal makes me sick with the no enforcer thing!

Damn! The Canadiens will now be a lottery team. Gauthier should dismantle the team.

Konopka is good at faceoffs but plays like 3 minutes a game. I prefer getting someone better.

I agree. We have the cap space to add talent. I'd rather see that occur than the signing of pluggers.

My point is that the non-signing of Konopka is so insignificant that it won't affect the Canadiens is the slightest.
You guys are whining more about Konopka than the letting go of Hamrlik.

I would have liked Konopka for that price, he's good at faceoffs, puts in a lot of effort and is by all accounts a great teammate, but this really isn't that big of a deal. He'd be an extra forward on the Habs while on a bad team he gets to be a 4th liner. Plus the Habs really don't need any more guys who take a ton of penalties.
I hope we will can add a bit of toughness on the cheap, but goons weren't the reason Boston was one of the best teams in the league at scoring on 5 on 5s last season. The type of toughness a strong forward like Erik Cole brings is much more important than fighters.
I wouldn't mind bringing Mara back though for instance.

Boston another one of those teams with a lot of cap space but nothing to spend it on. I imagine they'll go the trade route to shore up their D.

True... they DO have some good quality assets.
They also arent shy about playing their young guys... Dougie Hamilton?
I know Montreal is a bit more conservative when it comes to this, but really IMHO I hope it costs a lot for them to fix the issue lol

My guess is that the Bruins spend a little to bring in Hanaan. They will not go empty handed thus UFA season(pouliot doesn;t count).
However, stay-at-home d-men is not something the Bruins need more of. Puck-movement is an issue on their back end.

Speaking of getting some toughness, Shane O'Brien has yet to sign anywhere. Rumours were that Habs had an offer into him. He is really what we need on our blueline. If we sign him, I definitely think we can trade Spacek since there are teams needing blueline depth and need his cap hit.
I wonder what the hell is taking O'Brien so long to sign with a team. He must have offers.

Interesting, I think he played some of his best hockey under Coach Maurice.

Ah well, not a bad signing for the Beaners.

Damn..I was close wasn't I lol(but far at the same time)
Doesn't Corvo play on the same side as Chara on the PP?
Anyway good trade for them. They needed puck-movement and offensive minded defensemen.

If they manage to pry one of the big guys away from the Predators (Suter/Weber), I won't be pleased.
Not that I have an inside info about the Predators. I don't think Nashville will give up on either willingly and by all accounts they both enjoy it there, but the Bruins do have the assets to pull off something like that for similar players.
edit: lol, I guess I can't complain about the Bruins trading for Corvo when I was thinking of the above mentioned players.

Konopka is helping the Habs, he's probably going to put us on the PP a couple times

Good pick up for Boston, for a 4th rounder the guy can give them what they need. As for Kaberle, I really didn't see that one coming(Carolina).
