That's a big loss for the Dogs. Yikes, Meyer & Delmas between the pipes, we are screwed. As a Dogs fan I appreciate what the Habs have done for us by providing us with good veterans through the years but this is puzzling to me that they have let both Sanford and DMac walk.

I hope they still go out and get a vet between the pipes like a Joey MacDonald, Matt Climie or even Justin Pogge but losing DMac hurts, especially to a division rival like the Amerks.

Also, we could use another guy up front like a Robbie Earl type. Several top end AHL have already signed with contracts since the start of free agency so here's to hoping the Habs get to work and bring in a few guys for the Dogs.

The way it stands as of now I don't like our chances this upcoming season.

A veteran goalie and a high end vet scorer is what Hamilton needs imo to help keep the confidence with the young guys.

Guy I want the most. Perfect number three goalie in the depth chart as he proved just this year.

I wish we had brought back MacIntyre. We did trade for the guy, and he was pretty solid for us.

They have to sign someone, right? No way Hamilton starts with Delmas & Mayer. Hopefully, there is a plan to sign a #3 vet goalie this summer.

I could be wrong... But does Delmas have a winning pedigree? (Memorial Cup?)

He was a pretty good goalie until his 19 year old season where he played with a bad hip in Quebec and Halifax.

Leblanc, Engqvist, Fortier and Nattinen seems a little thin at center, don't you think?

Yes.. Maybe a bit thin, but I think Leblanc will surprise a lot of people around here, I think he can have similar input of Eller 2 years ago with Peoria.. about 50pts while playing top lines.. Obviously he'll be playing with Trotter and Palushaj which would be a good line if you ask me.

I think Palushaj is going to make the big club.

Engqvist should be a regular call up but will start in Hamilton.

Russell Leblanc UFA
Trotter Engqvist Avtsin
Conboy Nattinen Masse
Lefebvre Dumont Fortier
*Schultz

Diaz Henry
Nash Carle
St-Denis Stejskal
*UFA

Lawson Delmas

We need to sign at least one top-6 forward and a spare defenseman.

Candidates at forwards: Christian Hanson, Graham Mink, Paul Szczechura, Alexandre Picard, Bill Thomas, Jason Jaffray

And why not Steve Begin as well.

ECHL: Berger, Bishop, Mayer

Do we have anyone on an AHL contract yet? Bonneau?

I don't see Palushaj making the team full time. A Trotter Leblanc Palushaj line sounds better to me.

Also Dumont has played mostly RW, really don't see him and Fortier on the 4th line.

As for the defense, Henry is a LD and played on the 3rd pairing last year, Diaz is a RD, and St-Denis was easily one of the Dogs best defensemen last year so he won't be on the 3rd pairing.

At this time, we don't have any players signed to an AHL contract.

Picard just signed with Tampa Bay.

Don't forget we're bringing Josh McFadden to camp this year. Highly offensive defenseman, sounds like if we sign him he'd be in Hamilton this year, maybe the ECHL.

I like Hamilton's lineup so far, that's the lineup I would like to see at the start of the season :

Wilsie-Leblanc-Trotter
X-Blunden-Avtsin
Conboy-Engvist-Dumont
Nattinen-Fortier-Berger/Schultz
Ex : Masse, Bishop

ECHL : Lefevbre

Nash-Diaz
St.Denis-Carle
Henry-Stejskal
X

Lawson
Delmas/Mayer

X= Denis Hamel (NHL two-way contract)
X=Neil Petruic (AHL contract)

So I would sign another top 6 forward (hopefully Hamel), to have a define top 6 and bottom 6. I would also re-sign Petruic as a 7th d because I thought he did well last year.

I don't think you would have to sign Hamel to a 2-way. I'm pretty sure for the last 2 years he was signed to just an AHL standard contract.

Another option would be a guy like Marco Rosa (formerly of Manitoba) he's a pretty solid AHL'er and you wouldn't need to sign him to an NHL/AHL deal. He was on an AHL only deal for the last 2 years with the Mooose.

I agree about Petruic. He did a nice job as a number 7 guy. Good vet to have.

I also think Palushaj starts the year in the Hammer.
