The stats may just be coincidence but he really does suck. Hoping last year and the offseason humbled him a bit. Good luck Blues hope it works out.

This is what i don't get.

He was the team captain. He put in a lot of solid years in NJ. Why did he alluvasudden turn into the devil? So to speak.

You Jersey fans are always so volatile when it comes to ex-devils. You guys need to grow up.

Yeah, cuz Langenbrunner is the main reason for those records.

But in all seriousness, Langenbrunner sure needs a bounceback season. I hope a fresh slate helps, like it didn't do in Dallas.

I hope Jamie succeeds there. In total he had a great Devils career, marred by a horrible last year for them. I think he'll adjust and be a good player for St. Louis, now that he's a new fish and not their captain.

He did have some missteps publicly about traveling with the team and being a healthy scratch. He could have handled those situations better, but more significantly, his play dropped off.

That being said, by and large, on this one issue, the Devils fans on the board are reading a whole lot into very little. Melodramatic and immature at best.

I can't speek for the situation in Dallas but regarding the situation in New Jersey, he was a big part of the problem.

He was asked to waive his NMC/NTC in order to fit in Kovalchuk when he got signed to a 15 year deal and took it the wrong way. He acted like a little ***** under Lemaire and wasn't any better under MacLean when he was supposed to be our leader/captain.

He refused to take a shot in one of our shootouts two years ago cause Jacques didn't put him as a top 3 shooter and Zach had to convince him, on the bench, to take it. That story was reported by Mario Tremblay, who was our assistant at the time, on CKAC radio in Montreal. He also refused to join the team on a road trip leading to Carolina when he was told he was going to be a healty scratch... not the kind of leadership you want out of your captain.

Langenbrunner is a big crybaby when he doesn't get what he wants and I just hope that the trainwreck of a season he just went threw will make him realise certain things.

I don't blame a guy for refusing to waive his NTC. He negotiated for it, and deserves a right to stand by it.

But the shoot-out and road trip issues are disturbing.

Well, hopefully a fresh start and a bottom 6 role will yield a guy that contributes positively to the team. There must be some attributes that caused him to be chosen NJ and USA Team captain that is getting overlooked due to these issues.

Probably the 100s of games where there weren't incidents blown out of proportion by lazy journalists who couldn't write about winning a game. At least the guy has pride even if he has too much, it's a nice change of pace from young guys who get confident too quick and then lose all of it when things get tough on them.

Its a 1-year deal. Regardless of the money, its a low risk high reward solid depth signing. As a Blues fan I'm thrilled.

We still have a bad taste in our mouth after what went down from the Olympics until now, w/ regard to Langs. I hope he has success w/ the Blues.

You know it's the slowest work day ever when you're feverishly refreshing both the Langenbrunner and Arnott threads to see what they signed for.

/sigh

Maybe he turns things around for a decent season, but everyone that has said he could slide into a top 6 role is insane. He was just a flat out terrible player last year. Forgot his attitude problems.

Like you said, it's a low risk/high reward kind of deal. He'll bring a veteran pressence but let's just hope he doesn't piss and moan if your head coach decides to give top minutes to youngsters intead of him.

If he knows his role, he'll be a solid addition for the Blues in the next 8 months.

Langs is a quality sign. Don't listen to the sour grapes on here.

Good move for the Blues

Stop blaming him for the Devils bad start. Not a 1st liner but decent 2nd/3rd option.
