Shouldn't come as much of a surprise.

Wellwood and Holmstrom right now are my favorites out of Couturier, Wellwood, Holmstrom, Read, Rinaldo, and Testwuide.

I'm also assuming now that Schenn and Gus are pretty much set to go.
What would that mean for Bartulis?

Remember when Holmgren said the ideal would be to carry 8 defensemen because you can never have enough?

I'm holding him to that.

I'm heading to the scrimmage Monday. Looking forward to that!

Anyone know if there's an entrance fee or anything like that?

edit: Some of the scouting reports from D_Leed's twitter:

Shane Harper - very skilled, good hands...needs more speed
Petr Placek - "Monster" and could be very good after his Harvard stint, can tell he still has raw talent
Erik Gustafsson - really smart, looking good
Ben Holmstrom - underrated skill and does everything right
Oliver Lauridsen - looked very good, very impressive
Sean Couturier - destroyed the stick-handling drills, Datsyukian.
Jason Akeson - looked very impressive
Zac Rinadlo - plays with an edge but brings some skill too
Tom Sestito - same as Rinaldo, has sneaky good hands too. Wants to be more than an enforcer
Tye McGinn - looked solid
Brayden Schenn - needs to get a little stronger, but skill was incredible.
Matt Read - noticeably impressive as well

Anyone know if they are going to be there Friday, or is that when the trial on the isle is?

Nope it was free. There were probably about a hundred people there today, no entry fee

Flyers Rookie Camp 2011

Didn't see a thread for this, so I thought I would start one.

Rookie camp started today, who else was able to go and who impressed you?

Mike Testwiude looked great to me, strong as hell and decent hands. Looks like hes gonna be a player. Jason Akeson looked great as well, very quick release and great stickhandling. Kevin Marshall also looks to be a stud shutdown defenseman in the making.

Yeah, asking when it begins. It wasn't about discussing how the players did

Thanks for the vids. Could some of these be merged maybe? I think this makes 3 threads about camp.

No need to close it, just merge it. I really liked your last vid. wellwood was clearly the fastest of the that group in the drill, but you know considering that Planek (sp?) is a huge dude out of highschool, I thought he handeled it quite well.

He looked alot better during the later drills. T.Brown had a iffy beginning. He wasnt doing the dekeing drills right so the staff had to show him how to do it a few times.

Also there was the Gus defending play I was telling you guys about. He is #27.
