I agree with you on the part that coaches should be able to mix things up when they're not working, but I would imagine it's the happiness of his franchise center and team chemistry that is also coming into play. Plus, I'm fairly sure that Captain Jack may not see PAP as capable of being as useful anywhere else.

I was gonna give you a lengthier answer DarkHorse, but this is one point where I very much agree with what Mitch wrote.
I ditto what he says here.
And don't forget that Gordon had a bit of a phase there where he was constantly changing lines, sometimes quite a bit in-game.
This didn't happen much under Capuano, especially in his last 40-50 games. I felt the players responded positively to that.
Also, even if one line isn't functioning well for a 2-5 game stretch, should a coach break up other lines that might be working to try and remedy that??? Does the one line just need to work through it? Do you create holes in one area to try and stopgap them in another? That kind of thing comes under the guise of coaching philosophy and there are surely legtimate pros and cons to why a coach does or does not do that.
