PAP does seem like he's having fun out there and that can be infectious.

I agree with you on the part that coaches should be able to mix things up when they're not working, but I would imagine it's the happiness of his franchise center and team chemistry that is also coming into play. Plus, I'm fairly sure that Captain Jack may not see PAP as capable of being as useful anywhere else.

I was gonna give you a lengthier answer DarkHorse, but this is one point where I very much agree with what Mitch wrote.

I ditto what he says here.

And don't forget that Gordon had a bit of a phase there where he was constantly changing lines, sometimes quite a bit in-game.

This didn't happen much under Capuano, especially in his last 40-50 games. I felt the players responded positively to that.

Also, even if one line isn't functioning well for a 2-5 game stretch, should a coach break up other lines that might be working to try and remedy that??? Does the one line just need to work through it? Do you create holes in one area to try and stopgap them in another? That kind of thing comes under the guise of coaching philosophy and there are surely legtimate pros and cons to why a coach does or does not do that.

definitely not a coincidence. Okposo's ability on the boards, to retrieve pucks, to be positionally sound in his own zone (along with Nielsen, obviously) give Grabner all the opportunity in the world to do what he does best, and not cost the team on the other side of the puck. win-win-win.

As much as I was disappointed with KOs 5 goals last year, I didn't think he ever played a bad game. If KO never scores 20 goals I still consider him a core player to this team.

Chapin,

You do have a point there. I don't think it wise to change things up so often..let them play and make a longer term assessment. The thing is...Bailey knows he has to turn things around this year and if the top 2 lines are pretty much locked with chemistry..I think he'll be SOL on the third line. You don't see many high scoring 3rd lines out there.. I think playing with Tavares will elevate his game a LOT more than Parenteaus game and giving him the confidence he needs to shine...however, he might just be better off at center...very hard to say where he'll end up..Fans is pretty good too.

ADD:

Bailey has a game he has to develop (now that Scott Scrotum is gone) and BAILEY'S game is two way, solid passing and very Sutter-esque (Brent, that is). Tavares' line would not be the place for that IMHO, so I wouldn't recomment further eroding his potential by trying to "Gillies our Bertuzzi" into oblivion.

He's getting his game down.....he'll be just fine, hopefully very good.
