Feds: Hey, Erik can I have your number?
Erik: As in my phone number? Like you want to hang out?
Feds: Um, no...
Erik: Then what number? My apartment number?
Feds: No, you're number on the team.
Erik: The soccer team? The water polo team?
Feds: The hockey team.
Erik: Which one?
Feds: The one you're on now.
Erik: The Whale?
Feds: The Rangers.
Erik: Yeah, sure, whatever.
Feds: Thanks.
Erik: You still want to hang out?
Feds: No...
Erik: Okay...*slits wrists*
It must suck for all the people who jumped the gun and customized a #91 Brad Richards jersey on NHL.com.
Hey EC does care about something! Rumor has it he re-did his house this year, and actually requested that they painted each of the rooms a different color, just as long as they are from this color pallet....

Going back to those who mentioned Kreider with 20. With Tim Erixon becoming a Ranger before Kreider (we all assume). Think Tim honors his father with 20? Or stays with what he wore in Sweden, which I believe was 44.

44, his old man knows how he feels. (also his SEL #)
No way the Rangers let Kreider take 91. NHL teams as a rule don't like giving rookies flashy numbers and the Rangers in particular have a rep for wanting to keep the jersey number conservatively low. Gilroy was an exception because his number was a tribute to his late brother.
007 - I remember the Rangers from the late 80s until Gretzky, no one ever wore the "flashy" numerals. Petr Nedved took 93 and then we started seeing many of the higher numbers appear.

Not that I don't think it's funny, because I know the context for all the EC jokes (and I don't care if he ever plays for us again) but it's a little amusing to me that Fedetenko is "the man" because he gave Richards his number but just because of the wording with EC he's the complete opposite of the man for being a good guy and letting Fedetenko have a favored number as well.
Meanwhile, Rupp wearing 71 is going to annoy me all year. I understand he wore 17 and flipping it around is common practice when a preferred number is taken, but a grinder like Rupp wearing 71 is flat out awkward.

Brashear wore 87 and that annoyed the crap out of me

lol yea I think it will be weird too with Rupp but meh. EC will be a spare at best.
I guess I'm in the minority here with Rupp taking 71... I love it, favourite looking number, glad someone is wearing it. Also don't care about "sniper" numbers or "grinder" numbers.
19 is about as classic a # for a C as you can get! Some of the greatest centers in the history of the game have worn #19. Trottier, Yzerman, Sakic to name a few.
one of the few reasons i chose to wear #19 in my mens league...so many greats wore it im glad that i wear the same number as a good player on the rangers now
