You really want to see Crabb-Bozak-Kessel again next year?
YOu are aware that we've since added Lupul and Connolly, right?

Meh. He's gonna be packaged for a better player anyways.

this...and most likely next season as well i cant see him moving back to centre for at least 2 years 1) we have 3 top 9 centres currently b) helps him adjust to the nhl level while not having as much pressure on him

Hopefully not... seems like an obvious decision to me

Defense and faceoff ability needs to improve for him to play C at an NHL level, this is a good move for now. He played his best last year at LW, both in the AHL and NHL. Plenty of guys who were Cs their whole life pre-NHL start their NHL careers on the wing, then move to C if it seems like the right move later on, or simply just stay on the wing if they seem better suited there long term.

Besides, this is completely expected, wasn't everyone penciling him in as our 3rd line LW, with Bozak at C and Army at RW? I know I was.

A winger until one of Connolly, Grabovski and Bozak are injured.

Also Kadri - Connolly - Kessel becomes the "Everyone pass to Kessel" game.
Kadri is not the type of player that will go out of his way to get the puck to a specific player.

I think that Lupul will start with Kessel to kick off the season, with Kadri alongside Bozak and Armstrong

I can see this being like Giroux's situation. He was mostly Richards' wing until he understood the defensive responsibilities and then he was moved to his spot at C.

I agree but I wouldn't be surprised if at some point he gets a chance to play on the top line.

Hopefully he can earn and cement a spot there because I would love to see a Lupul - Lombardi (hopefully...eventually)- Armstrong 3rd line

No one said he's gonna be winger for the rest of his career. Just until his defensive game improves.

I think that would be the most expensive 3rd line in hockey.

May be expensive, but that's one sexy line man. Lupul the finisher, Lombardi the speedster, Army the garbage man.

Question: Who is Chris Johnston? I tried googling the guy and all I found were actors, pornstars, and theaters! . Who does he write/report for?

The talent is there, no question. I think the problem with having Kadri and Kessel playing on the same line is that they're going to be way too undersized in the match ups with other team's top lines. Add in Connolly who's barely over 6 feet and that might be a recipe for disaster.

You can't take credit for being the one who said he would play wing. I think majority of people on here believed he'd play wing next year.

I said it before Kardi=St.louis light

edit: I guess this means Frattin starts in the AHL. No way he plays 4th line.

Exactly. Bigger, not quite as good version of St. Louis is his future IMO. I am not a big fan of the Ribeiro comparisons.

Not surprised at all by this. Kadri has proven he can play at the AHL level, now it's time for him to be broken into the NHL. That starts with 3rd line wing duty/minutes. Depending on his play he could move up to second line wing duty/minutes. And finally if he progresses like a 7th overall pick can, we may see him as the 1st or 2nd line centre 3 years from now. No point in throwing him to the wolves in the #1 C spot this year. He's not ready for that job yet.

Can't hurt. He isn't ready for center duties now anyways.

it's just not a problem for me. so many centres have converted to wing. most of the time, they put the most talented players at centre in Junior. doesn't mean that's their best position, just that coaches want their strongest puck handlers at centre.

Kadri will be fine.

The GM is saying where a player is going to play? Yeah... I'll believe this when Ron says it, not the GM who puts no say on the lines the coach plays. This can even change in the season or after training camp... Right now I'd say he's a winger/centre, don't know why you'd say he's playing wing or centre, let the coach decide.
