Blunden can play hockey, I remember him being a pretty physical presence on Team Canada's World Junior team that won Gold (might of even played on the same as Pouliot)

Injuries have kind of derailed his career so far but I think he'll get a shot with the Habs come September

Yeah, he moves pretty well for his size. It's a great trade. Worst case he will put up good numbers in Hamilton, probably 25 goals. Best case he has the tools to be a third line winger who hits and scores here and there.

Blunden didn’t score in nine games during a November call-up with the Hawks, but showed great energy, averaging 11:23 on the third and fourth lines and delivered a lot of big hits. A big man and a good skater who is always around the action, Blunden suffered a season-ending shoulder injury about halfway through the year.

Who cares.

Not like Montreal is going to give him a chance anyways.

Smart move; we get bigger on bottom 6 (if he starts in MTL) and grit/toughness does not mean fighting...

Worst case scenario, he ends up in Hamilton...never gets call up...and signs with another team when his contract expires.

Also, I think it puts "pressure" on White; hey kid, don't think you're officially in because you ended last season in MTL. Keep everyone on the edge so they have to perform and "fight" for their spot.

Who was it that reported rumours of trade talks between Montreal and Columbus? Need to add them to my mental 'credibility' list.

edit: Nevermind, found it myself.

They're censored here, hmmm.

Why?

I really don't get you guys.

You whine about size in the top 6...they get it...but not good enough.

Seriously, are you guys trolls?

Not bad trade. I don't think Russell would have ever made our team while Blunden add size and grit we lack in the organization (with a little scoring touch as he's shown in junior). He's also already had NHL stints.

It is a good move if they give him a chance, but we all know he is going to rot in Hamilton with Conboy and Schultz and never given a chance while our peewee's get pushed around in the NHL.

Are you subtlely implying that Schultz should be given some sort of chance at the NHL at this point?

Size. Nice. Not a bad trade, Russell wasn't going to get the chance with the Canadiens here, Blunden will most likely. I like it.

Come on, Schultz could barely even play in the AHL last season.

Conboy and Schultz are in hamilton because they are not good enough to play in the nhl.

Your argument makes no sense especially when you take into account that the Canadiens called up White and played him the entire playoffs. There goes your "they don't like tough players". Likewise, they would have never signed Moen if they didn't like toughness.

Don't think he starts the year in MTL but hey he can come in handy for a couple of games if one of our bottom-6 dudes gets injured.

An absolute beast in NHL09 and 10 and 11. A welcome addition

But in all seriousness, a good 13th forward for a career AHLer, not bad.

People actually think Schultz deserves to be in the NHL because they know absolutely nothing about his year in Hamilton, all they see is he has some size and they probably heard he could fight from some second hand source. The dude could hardly secure a 4th line AHL spot in Hamilton. It's pathetic how obsessed so many people are with size that it makes them actually clamor for SCHULTZ of all people in the NHL this year.

These are small details, Tuggy. If the guy is 6'2" he's good enough to be in the NHL.
