Considering how Timmins talks about Conboy, I'm pretty sure they're dying for guys like that to show they can play at high level and take a spot on the roster.

Just because they bring something we don't have in abundance doesn't mean they should be spoon-fed minutes. People need to earn it.

If he is defensively responsible enough for Martin to trust him, this is a great move. The guy has great size, plays with an edge, skates and has some hands, as well as being a willing fighter...

Also, I believe he has played some center, so that could be his spot on the 4th/energy line...

No, not yet. But it must be discouraging when you see a player of the similar mold in Conboy never get a chance. What gives Ian incentive when he witnessed Conboy being treated unfairly?

Im my mind, Conboy should have been given a chance before Pyatt. He is a big body who can skate and hit. Develop him and ease him into the NHL. He could be a great asset to this organization on the 4th line.

Hopefully this is not the deal to get a big forward PG has been working on, although I don't mind Blunden (or Willsie for that matter).

Conboy is not ready for the nhl and that is why is not playing. Like I said you argument holds no water since White is a similar type of player and actually made the team near the end of the season and stayed on the team.

Where do you guys come up with these conspiracies?

Most of the goals he scores are garbage goals by rushing to the net, I wouldn't say no to a big forward willing to do the dirty work.

Conboy wasn't ready. He came into his own as a utility player this year in Hamilton, I'm expecting him to get a call-up for the bottom 6 this year in case of injuries as long as he keeps improving like he has over the last few years.

Interesting. I agree that Russell just didn't have any future here, so considering what we got it's an interesting player to have in our organization. Might just be a call-up, but better have him as a call-up than Russell, at least he adds something in our farm that the team lacks.

He has been tooled in every one of them.

Leave it to Montreal to sign a 6'4 "fighter" who can't even fight.

6'4'' 220lbs, skates decent and throws his weight around (had 83 hits in 40 games in the season before). Kinda sucks at fighting though but who knows, he can make a good 4th liner one day.

He reminds me of Chad Kilger ... with less offensive skills.

He's not a fighter, but willing to fight back, so the losses aren't the same.

Perhaps one was born in the car in Caroline on the way to the hospital in Red Deer where the 2nd was born.

I find it interesting that you felt it was necessary that it was clarified that the excitement about Blunden's size was of a non-erotic nature in this post.

Anyways, I'm usually apathetic as far as minor deals go, I like this one.

Didn't Blunden play for Team Canada at the World Jr's once?

Good trade to add size to the organization. I don't know why everyone needs a fighter - we tried that a couple years ago with Mr. Laraque and look how that worked out.

I say as long as we have big guys who can play gritty and are at least willing to drop the gloves, then why not?

Plus, this is a minor deal anyway. Blunden's a 13th guy at best right now until he can prove otherwise.
