Has anyone seen anything to indicate if Prab Rai's contract will slide from expiring in 2013 to 2014 since he didn't play at least 10 games this year?

Thanks.

Doesn't slide, he signed in March 2010 when he was 20.

Awesome!

I think Rodin could turn out better than the Oilers counter-prospect Anton Lander.

I think so too, rodin outplayed him at WJC.

the only clouds in the sky is that rodin has trouble with his shoulders.

I'm very excited for Anton. He and Cody are what I look forward to camp for the most.

I found Darren Archibald's twitter and the background gave me laugh. His name and number photoshopped on to Daniel's Body, i think.

Anyone found the expected roster on the Canucks website? Maybe I need new glasses

Did not want to bump another draft thread, so i'll post the video here. Canucks still have not posted the post draft videos, so here is Jensen's.

Mostly a re-hash of what most things that have been said about him. Seems okay with all the press at least.

And Labate's if you missed it:

Interesting article from Botchford on Rodin's shoulder issues.

Quote:
But not so fast. Nagging, chronic shoulder tendinitis was so bad in parts of last season Rodin couldn't shoot. Dave Gagner, the Canucks director of player development, said it could impact his chances of playing in the AHL.

"With his shoulders, he gets a little bit sore and it affects his shot and passing and things like that," Gagner said. "We just have to see how this summer progresses for him. The plan is for him to be over here and play in our American League team this year."

Rodin has seen several specialists and it's believed the tendinitis will go away, although there is no timetable. The problem, they've concluded, is that the growth plates in his shoulder haven't closed. The growth plate is made up of cartilage which is more vulnerable to injury than mature bones. There is a growth plate at the part of the humerus closest to the shoulder.
I'm assuming some of you knew about his shoulder problems, but probably not in as much detail as written here.

Now, it's not clear exactly why this would affect his ability to play in the AHL, but I'm assuming that because there's more contact in the AHL than in the SEL, neither Rodin nor management wants to risk making this a chronic issue by playing in Chicago.

Sounds like Botch is just sensationalizing. What I got out of that was Rodin is still growing! He's going to be a giant!

Exactly what I was thinking. I panicked at the start there. If it was that serious, Gagner would not go into detail about it.

Shoulder tendonitis is a fairly common overuse injury in athletes that bench press/shoulder press a lot and it's often due to poor form. I remember there were reports of Rodin coming into camp significantly heavier and stronger last year. I'm sure he spent a lot of time in the gym getting that way. Maybe there's a form issue that needs to be corrected...? Hopefully the Canucks trainers can address the issue that caused it, shoulder tendonitis can be brutal (I speak from experience). Lingering shoulder pain will put a stop to any strength training program and will take all of the power off your shot.

If the shoulder problems are too much and he has to get surgery or needs to take an extended time off, they might be better off 'loaning' him back to Sweden and using that spot on the Wolves for someone else.

I don't think you ever need surgery for tendonitis do you? You just fix the muscle imbalance. Unless his growth plates never plan to close, this is really a non story.

It's certainly possible and I think some time with the strength and conditioning coaches can give some guidance if that is the case.

To be honest, Rodin is not one of the guys I'm expecting anything for for at least another 2 years. He shouldn't be in any rush to make the team.

Let us all play to the mighty Hockey Gods that Rodin recovers and pans out because we all want Bob Cole to get confused by a Sedin Sedin Rodin line.

C'mon, he's a Swedish center -- they don't need to shoot, just pass.

Hmmm from what I've seen his hands look good. Anyways it's definitely better that way than the other way around. You can work on your hands and as you become a pro they develop, but a head for the game comes naturally.

He plays RW... and his shot is deceiving and fast. Would be terrible if he lost anything on it.

well, on the bright side, he still had a pretty good season in spite of being injured. short term this may affect his ability to break into the NHL, but longer term everything should be ok.
