Likely flame out as Drury did but you never know look at guys like Draper or Homstrom that take beatings year in/out and still perform into their late 30's.

The premis still stands, match a $5m offer now and your all but guarenteeing it will be their last contracts with NY unless they go so far down hill that they actually lose out in their UFA years.

On second thought, I dont really see Cally falling off the map at 31yo either so 5-7 years from not flaming out is pushing it. But like I said it depends on the lenght of the offer sheet.

I can't see Callahan signing any offer sheets, these guys aren't blind to the buisness he'd know if he did he would be ****ing the team over, he's our future captain and satires not going to let him walk for a couple picks.

Dubinsky on the other hand is a different story after the whole holdout with the last contract I wouldn't put it past him/his agent. Even if someone was was going to offer sheet dubi I would assume sather would know somethings up and likely file for arbitration(if he can,not sure?)

I don't think anybody's going to offer sheet Glen Sather.

Unless Feaster is still ******** about Erixon.

I think Dubi and Cally get 4+ year long deals in a few weeks. Arty and Boyle 2. Wonder what Sauer would get.

Why would feaster be ******** about Erixon? He traded him to Sather. I mean would he help his grandmother cross the street? Probably not but i dont think there is any animosity towards Glen.

So I guess he wasn't reliable when he broke it first that Richards' decision was the Rangers, only to be confirmed by Dreger about 10 minutes later?

He isn't only a Blues guy, he is inside the NHL. Strickland is a good source.

Strickland is very reliable.

Not everyone is 100% accurate though. Not Dreger, not McKenzie, not Kipper, no one.

Strickland is not very reliable at all. Besides for Blues stuff which his is usally spot on, he is very hit or miss with his "rumors".

Maybe comparing him to Eklund was an extreme, he's nothing like Eklund.

Its possible the Rangers are waiting to announce the signing as there is no real rush to save some summer cap room and hence, some regular season cap room with Redden still counting in the summer.

Good point Boyler. In the arb filing thread a guy claims Sauer is close, even gave terms. The team may just be waiting to finalize or announce.

That doesn't make any sense. The summer cap doesn't work like the regular cap where the salaries accumulate. It's just a hard number that may not be exceeded. And anyway, Redden has no negative effect on the cap once he is sent down. His salary only limits what we can spend in the summer he does not lower our regular season cap.

Yeah, there really is no rush. If they have a deal agreed to, then Sather may have asked to wait a week or 2 so as to put the team in a better position when the season comes around.

If I am Sather, I wait to a day or 2 before arbitration for Callahan, Sauer, Dubinsky and Boyle so as to save as much summer cap space as possible if the deal is agreed upon.

I'm not sure what you mean. How would it save us any kind of cap space? I can't think of any reason it would.

another possibility is the Rangers are waiting on another signing to announce. they have shown in the past their preference to announce signings simultaneously in bunches.

Are you sure? I thought it was a daily cap hit of all the NHL contracts on the books.

I was under the impression that there was a certain number a team had to be under per day with all of their NHL contracts including the 2-ways with their cap hit pro-rated for the number of games they played.

With those players not yet on the cap, it would save them x amount of days of possibly being over the summer cap hit due to Redden being added to that cap.

That's how it is during the regular season. The summer cap is different though.

Maybe Anisimov's contract/deal is agreed to in principle and Sather doesn't want to announce it as to not influence or impact the other pending negotiations.... Maybe it's not even finalized yet.... Either way, I'm confident it will get done.

Yeah, the summer cap is just a number that can't be exceeded. Summer cap space can't be "banked" like the in-season cap space. Delaying the signing makes no difference at all unless we delay the signing until Redden gets sent down, but that won't be until the end of September.

Anisimov's contract should have no bearing on what the other RFAs get since the others are all arbitration eligible. Different situations.

Simmonds just got 1.75 per for 2 years. Artie is in a comparable situation, so should get a similar deal.

This is good news so far. If Sauer comes in at 1.25 per and Artie at 1.75 per, that will be about 500k less than many of us predicted.

Only complaint I have on Anisimov is that he doesn't do his bow and arrow celly enough.

Artie will be getting the traditional Ranger second contract -- 2 years in the $1.6-$1.8MM range. Long history here. Simmons comparable validates this.
