Been your what for decades? I think we should look at maybe the last 9 or 10 times they met in the playoffs. 1993 is a long time ago

last 9 or 10 series was what was said. Seems you have forgot a few of the 9 or 10. It's ok, I'll remind you 89-90, 90-91, 91-92, 93, 94 and oh yes.......2011

If that's how to win, count me out. They played well but in the end the win is tainted by so many external factors that would be too numerous to mention here. I'd rather be a fan of a team like the Habs who fought hard to the bitter end and lost with some class knowing that their day was coming and soon.

They've been our *****es for decades and aren't worth the steam off our piss.
Sums it up pretty well.

Be ready and get used to it guys! This is gonna be the new anti-Habs slogan from the Bruins fans. This season was "911", next season is gonna be "1993". Here's an idea: they should already go to work to find one with the mention "25".

For me (born in 75) it's more like the ones I remember seeing and enjoying. So I've only got the two (86, 93). And 86 didn't mean much to me at the time because I wasn't watching faithfully yet.. I only started becoming a real die-hard Habs fan around 88. Just in time to watch that miserable string of playoff losses to the Bruins

I don't pull out the "24 Cups" thing on fans of other teams for that reason. The longer Montreal goes without one, the lamer it feels to have to fall back on that.

I just come back with "1 cup in the last 40 years" I know it's not the best but what can you do.

I'm happy for Boston's fans. Everyone deserves to experience the joy of winning a Stanley Cup in their lifetime.

The 8 or 9 I experienced as a Habs fan were all fantastic.

And yes, 18 years is awhile between cups. But when a franchise has all that Stanley Cup currency in the bank, you'd be surprised how easy it is to live off the interest. Obviously, it's unfair to expect Boston fans to understand that.

I'll make it easy for you. Decades = several. Dating back to 1929

The record

24-9

I'll play your game and go back only 3 decades.

983-84 Adams Division Semifinal Montreal 3-0 2-1 3-1 0-5
1984-85 Adams Division Semifinal Montreal 3-2 5-3 3-5 4-2 6-7 0-1
1985-86 Adams Division Semifinal Montreal 3-0 1-3 2-3 4-3
1986-87 Adams Division Semifinal Montreal 4-0 2-6 3-4 5-4 4-2
1987-88 Adams Division Final Boston 4-1 2-5 4-3 1-3 0-2 4-1
1988-89 Adams Division Final Montreal 4-1 2-3 2-3 5-4 2-3 2-3
1989-90 Adams Division Final Boston 4-1 0-1 4-5 6-3 1-4 1-3
1990-91 Adams Division Final Boston 4-3 1-2 4-3 3-2 2-6 1-4 2-3 1-2
1991-92 Adams Division Final Boston 4-0 6-4 3-2 2-3 0-2
1993-94 Eastern Quarterfinal Boston 4-3 2-3 3-2 6-3 2-5 2-1 3-2 3-5
2001-02 Eastern Quarterfinal Montreal 4-2 5-2 4-6 3-5 5-2 2-1 1-2
2003-04 Eastern Quarterfinal Montreal 4-3 0-3 1-2 2-3 4-3 5-1 2-5 2-0
2007-08 Eastern Quarterfinal Montreal 4-3 1-4 2-3 1-2 1-0 5-1 4-5 0-5
2008-09 Eastern Quarterfinal Boston 4-0 2-4 1-5 4-2 4-1
2011-12 Eastern Quarterfinal Boson 4-3

The record 8-6... not dominating but still ahead. Only goes to show just how much you REALLY sucked before 1980. I still feel qualified to call you our *****es during that time because, well frankly we've really sucked for most of the last 25 years, but still manage to beat you as the underdog.....

Yes 1993 is quite a while, but luckily it's not nearly as long as 1972-2010. Lets talk in 21 years and see how things are going. Yes you won this year, beating a depleted lineup and getting aid from the league. The 3 overtime games could easily have gone our way. I'm not saying we'd have won the cup, because I don't think we would have. We have always owned the Bruins. There are occasional blips in the record but... even a blind squirrel finds and occasional nut.

Eleven weeks have passed since the Habs were eliminated and I'm over it. I didn't particularly want the Flyers, Bolts, or Canucks to win. My attention immediately turned to good signs and there have been a few. The Habs have drafted Beaulieu and signed Yemelin, Markov, and Cole. Pacioretty seems to be coming along nicely, although I regret that Leblanc, Eller, Markov, and Gorges are still in their healing phase.

Not at all. Boston winning goes to show you that winning a cup does not require multiple superstars on your team. It required depth at key areas and exploiting your own team's strengths.

How are Chara and Thomas not superstars?

But you are right to some degree. More important thing is players hustling in all 3 zones.

Scoring is inconsistent, playing D and keeping the puck in your possession for most of the game is a much safer way to win than cherry picking and playing run n' gun.

Chara is a pylon when he plays us.

I'm pretty sure he's been a top 5 Dman in the last few years and a rock on D during their cup run.

But thank you for your expert input.

I concur. I think this thread has run its course and has now degenerated into a fruitless contest among Bs and Hab fans.
