I'm guessing they would push Pacioretty down to Eller's line, or use 3 balanced lines like Phillie did last year.

If we got Semin, there is no way he would be on the third line. The guy averages 40 goals over 82 games. As much as I like MaxPac, he would go to the third line creating a great Kid Line in Max-Eller-Desharnais.

I agree that Kostitsyn would go the other way and likely tear it up in Washington.

I really doubt that. Semin for Kostitsyn both signed 1 year any day of the week twice on Sunday!

Normally I'd think impossible, but the AVs GM has recently shown himself to be dim with the Varlameov trade.

If the avs need to reach the floor they are not trading stasny. His cap hit is over 6 million i Believe.

The M-E-D line?

I have mixed feelings about Semin.
And, PLEASE LET STASTNY BE TRADED FOR GOMEZ GORGES+ that would be amazing.

I heard WAS is desperate to get rid of Semin because he is a real problem with management and a problem in the room. I would avoid him if possible. Lazy and unmotivated... I am honestly so happy to be rid of guys in the Kovalev mold finally...Why bring it back?

Because that's only what you heard. It might be true or it might be not.

But what I see is a 40 goals scorer, that can ALSO play on the PK and except for the Habs series, he is a good playoffs performer.

Yea really. I don't get why anyone would want Semin. He seems like a Kovalev-type player.. and he's cottonelle soft, can't even land proper punches!

If he can score 40 goals for us, I don't care if he reads a book in between shifts.

Who cares about 40 goals if he scores 1 in the playoffs. Also, he won't play D and he can't hit either.

I've been following him since the trade dealine and he's been pretty solid, he recently called the Langenbrunner and Arnott signings for the Blues a day before it happened and that came out of left field when it was announced.

He definitely has legit inside sources for some teams.

30pts in 37 playoff games. Not too bad for a "soft Russian".

Andy Strickland was the first to call it 2 days before anyone. It then got picked up by everyone else on twitter and the blogworld.

Agreed, a straight swap for A.Kost and Semin would make the most sense.

It gives Wash a capable player with the skills to flourish with the Caps as well as some much needed cap relief to sign some of thier important RFA's. And we on the other hand get a proven elite scoring threat. Hopefully the city grows on him and he wants stay and actually play night in night out.

You say NO to this guy ?
34 goals in 62 games (45 goals in 82 games) in 2008-09, and 40 goals in 73 games (45 goals in 82 games) in 2009-10. Last year, everyone in WAS under-performed (28g in 65 games is not too bad)

Clearly if we get Semin it is for Kostitsyn +.

Nothing else makes sense.

A physical player for one with absolutely no grit.... I would argue that it doesn't make sense. And just who becomes the third line right winger (Gionta, Cammalleri or Semin) That doesn't mean it won't happen but it doesn't make sense.

Get your facts straight before making such claim.

12 goals in 37 playoffs game, that's not that bad.

1st playoffs: 8 pts in 7 games
2nd playoffs: 14 pts in 14 games
3rd playoffs: 2 pts in 7 games (vs Montreal and Halak)
4th playoffs: 6 pts in 9 games

Gomez is still consider the king of playoffs for some people with 0 goal, 4 assists -6 in 7 games. I guess Semin isn't that far behind

Based on this site: http://www.capgeek.com/
Caps is $1.8 M over the cap.

Is there any real rumor about Semin trade ? Or it's just a pure speculation from us ?

We were almost the last team last year in offense and you guys wouldn't want a 40 goals scorer?

Markov will make this guy a 40 goals scorer for us easily.

I'd rather get Eric Fehr. Then we could put him on a 3rd line and have Eller play center.
