Gotcha. I asumed it was per year. Some have suggested he get 1.6 per and I think that's nuts.

Assuming that he made 875K last year and was arbitration eligible I'm going to say that Martinez did get some type of raise maybe even up to 1M a season. Just a guess.

LOL! it was on there at 11:50am.
I'm guessing it is $990,000 per.

Lot of people overestimated the figure that Martinez would get. Martinez still has a lot to prove, and the Kings will have a better idea of Martinez after this two-year deal. Don't want to repeat a similar mistake (Davis Drewiske).

It makes a lot more sense now considering that around 250K of his original contract was all in bonuses. I missed that on CapGeek just read the number. Good price then for our 6th D.

Capgeek shows a players salary, p.bonus (playing bonuses?) and signing bonus.

Is this the amount they recieve no matter what or is the p.bonus optional and what are the conditions for getting it.

The reason I ask is his real salary was then salary + signing bonus which would be 750k.

Right???

Ppl have remember, he's got one year exp and is a 6th defense and his QO was $660k. He made huge bonuses last year. No more bonuses for him..so he got a 20% raise all guaranteed. It's fair.

Well I am actually talking about the numbers. You would think DL would at least give Hammond a heads up on the salary once it was announced he had signed.

Even with a very generous 15% raise, he'll be making ~900K

Well, we are arguing over $200k, with my original estimate always being $2-3 million, you just caught me being lazy. Still. We have no real cap space. The RFA signings make a difference in the long run and throughout the season. Just because we have it doesn't mean we shouldn't care and give everyone an extra $300k raise, because we will be down near a $1 million less than what we could have had and it all adds up.

Stoll, Penner, Mitchell come off next year. I would re-sign Mitchell at a one year though, but then again Voynov, Hickey or Muzzin can't break in.

I'd take Mitchell ahead of those three. We know what Mitchell can do now and how much he helps the Kings defensively. Those three are still unknowns that the Kings have to wait for. Better they break in as bottom pairing dmen rather than expect them to fill a spot in the top four (which is already occupied by Doughty and Johnson up top).

Maybe down the road, Scuderi's minutes decrease and others slide up, but for now, the blueline is crowded and the only competition will be who will serve as the 7th defenseman.

I'm hoping Mitchell has another fairly healthy season and is brought back. He seemed to mesh well with this group and enjoyed a successful season with the Kings.
