LOL I'm in Arizona at the moment and the amount of love NASCAR gets here cracks me up

As to the whole Nash/gaborik thing, I'd say both are a bit overrated. Having said that, I'm glad one's a Ranger and I wish the other was

I love the "you clearly don't watch" argument. All I do all ****in day is watch hockey

And FYI I've been praising Datsyuk since his days buried behind the great of the 2002 team. It's just gone too far now is all.

I don't think guys like Doan, Lucic, and Brown are overrated as much as Callahan is underrated. To me he goes right in with those three, but you never hear his name in that conversation.

He also needs to prove to rack up the point totals without Crosby in the lineup and he had the perfect opportunity to prove he's one of the league's elite defenseman. He was far from impressive against the Lightning in the playoffs too. Don't get me wrong he's a nice puckmover, but he isn't quite a #1 defenseman yet, same goes to Erik Johnson.

Agreed with Bieksa claim, his play dropped off after Hamhuis went down.

Also Nino, he wasn't impressive in his 9 game stint, but who knows maybe he did really well in juniors.
My reason for Letang being overrated is basically this and the fact that he was mentioned in the same sentences as Lidstrom in the first half of the season but then Crosby got hurt...and his production disappeared but some of the Norris talk continued...I don't consider letang a number 1 guy

Apples and oranges, be right back let me go cancel my Datsyuk jersey because a top 5 player can be overrated, what does he have to be number one, and the rest of the league is overrated?

If you've been around hockey for 40+ years why does it say you're 26 on your profile. That'd be a mathematical absurdity.

And age =/= knowledge. Your opinion has roughly the same value as anyone else on this board.

People talk about him like he's top 5 all time. If he's not overrated, he's certainly overhyped.

Good thing you don't have a job teaching children the difference between "through" and "threw." Though I'm afraid you should have used "through." They are homophones.

Luongo - burns me up whenever a Canadian fan brags about his gold medal, as if he singlehandedly carried that team
Ryan Miller - one great season does not make him the best goalie in the league, he's horribly inconsistent from year-to-year
Mike Richards - apparently a far superior player to Brad Richards
Any player or prospect on MTL, TOR, or VAN - they hype up their own like no other fanbases

Overrated by Rangers fans:
Hemsky - talented but can never stay healthy
Booth - not the same after the Richards hit

Erik Johnson is coming down to reality in most peoples minds.

Same for Jack Johnson.

I don't know who the most overrated player int he NHL is. I'd say Malkin but he's fallen off peoples radar. I think Crosby is overrated in the sense that a lot of people think he's miles and miles better than the next center, which isn't true at all to me. You can argue that a handful of centers are better than Crosby, it just so happens he's been marketed as the next Gretzky and some have accepted that, whether they like to admit it or not.

I changed my mind. Roberto Luongo is the most overrated player in the NHL.

Harry Sinden almost ruined his career. The best thing he ever did was trade him to the Sharks.

True, Joe Thornton hasn't won a cup as of yet but he laid it on the line last year and carried his team to the conf finals for the 2nd straight year. He also has put up 1100 points at the age of 31+ and is arguably the best set up man in the league nxt to Crosby. If he were available as a UFA this year and it was between him and Richards, I take Jumbo Joe hands down everyday of the week and twice on sunday!
