Given the logjam at wing, does regier think about dealing boyes+morrisonn/pick for a good 2nd or 3rd center like filppula or stoll and a pick if the centers don't work out and maybe to save some cap space once pominville comes back? ideally, the guys we have behind roy (leino, goose, hecht, mccormick) work out, but this is buffalo, so preparing for possible problems is never a bad idea.
I wasn't dismissing them because they were drafted in the 3rd round or later. You don't think that the later the round a player is drafted in, the lesser the talent(not in all cases, but in most?).
see Dabs21Nike post a few back. He nailed it.
As far as me being pessimistic, excuse me if I grow tired every year of seeing guys like Hecht/Boyes filling in at center because there is no depth on the farm or having Gaustad on any of the top 3 lines.
-Hecht is actually a good 2/3 center.
-As for Goose, he was on a 17g 40pt pace from Jan 1st on when they went to 3 scoring lines. He can very much handle being a 3rd line center. That doesn't mean we couldn't do better but he is hardly a bad 3rd line center.
What exactly did I state about Adam, Leino or Gaustad that is not true?
I said you're being about as pessimistic as possible with our center situation. Looking to take the most negative stance on each player to frame things as negatively as possible.
-Goose was more than adequate as our 3rd line center. It wasn't until the playoffs, when he was asked to play and do more than he could handle, that his game suffered.
-Adam is not going to be brought up to play wing. The most important member of the organization in terms of where he will play is Ruff. He sees him as a big bodied 1-2 center with a two way game.
IMO the only real question at center (its an important one obviously) is Leino. Can he make a successful conversion to center. Goose, Hecht and Adam are all good options for 3rd line center.
