Who knows what he's thinking, or his agent is telling him, but if he thinks he's already starting goalie material after only 15 games, he's being unrealistic. No other team is going to take any more of a chance on him than Buffalo would at the moment.
I didn't say that either he or I believed that he was ready to be an NHL starter, I said that maybe he would like to go somewhere that he can become a starter sooner than Buffalo since Miller has plenty of years left in his career.
I don't see how a team can't be attempting to send him an offer sheet. I guess I don't understand logic of some crappy teams that aren't at the cap floor yet or some other teams who have plenty of cap space.
Why not offer the dude a cap hit of 1.5-1.7 for 3 years? Its obvious the Sabres are offering him POO on a deal. Strap the Sabres, give up next to nothing and take a shot at a premiere prospect goalie?

Name the team near the cap floor and odds are that they already have an Enroth level goalie prospect or better.
And GMs likely want to play nice with the other GMs as there hasn't been a sign OS signed yet this off season.
@MattiasEnroth Mattias Enroth
Time is running out for Sabres
If I were Jhonas I'd tell him to shut up and stay out of it
Or what? He'll take his puck and go home?
I want the kid back as Miller's backup at a fair price, but he has very little leverage in this situation. He's an RFA with 15 games under his belt and hasn't exactly stood on his head every game.

I'm pretty sure he said he was talking about a video game after that tweet.

$525k is the minimum starting this year and will be as long as the current CBA is extended (which it can be extended indefinitely if both sides agree on it).

I can't see 700k being too bug a holdup. A deal will get done.

Obviously, it's only 15 games to go off of but Enroth was clearly able to bring some confidence to the backup position, both for Ruff, the players and fans - which, after a 3 year abyss in that position, counts for something. I'm sure the Sabres want the maximum flexibility of a two-way deal that reduces the salary if he plays in the AHL again but, seriously, would paying him $700K to play in Rochester be such a big deal for Pegula? Based on other transactions he's OKed, I don't think so.
Give Enroth the one-way deal and keep the cap hit modest and it would seem everyone's happy.
Most teams are happy with their goaltending at this point. The idea would have been to trade him in June when teams were giving up assets for young goalies. Now that we're in the middle of July I would say his value is way down to nonexistent.
So I guess he can play in the KHL if he wants. I don't think a backup goalie is going to make or break our season and he doesn't deserve 1million+ just because the Kings overpaid Bernier. If he honestly thinks playing in Russia is going to help his career he should probably go have a chat with Nabokov and Emery. They're starters right?
