I don't understand why they don't just do north and south conferences so everyone has to travel the approximately the same amount and all fans have to endure late games. Not to mention the fans and useless eastern media actually watching the whole ****ing league.

AMEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've ALWAYS wondered why they don't do this. It just makes total sense to me.

Common sense threatens their comfort bubble so it won't happen.

Plus it would insult the elitist sensibilities if the "southern conference" won the Cup with regularity

Eh, Dallas wouldn't be too bad. I already hate them for the Robidas incident.

The problem with Liarpold's league is that it moves Detroit east, and I think everyone outside of Detroit pretty much agrees that the Wings make the least sense out of DET, NSH, CBJ to go east.

I still think a great compromise would be to let both DET and CBJ go east. So the east has 16 teams and the west has 14.

East - Lighter travel, more competition for playoff spots.
West - Heavier travel, less competition for playoff spots.

The problem would be getting the other 14 eastern conference owners to go for that one.

I would like it if they did away with the east west playoffs and just did one big bracket.
