We'd have to petition the league to allow us to dress 16 forwards.

I think we'd probably throw in a Spaling or Halischuk in the trade as a token of our appreciation to Philly.

That's still 15 forwards hahahha.
With our injury bug, it's okay. We'll need them

Posted this on the trade forum. Im really bad with value, so is it too much from us? too little?

Weber, Beck FOR Jvr, Couturier, Schenn

The value isn't bad, but Philly loses a lot of offense.

Can't see Philly doing that. After trading Carter and Richards, I think they are going to rely heavily on JVR and Schenn this year. And Couturier is considered very NHL ready. I think they'd be robbing their offense too much for their tastes. They make one step forward defensively only to take a huge leap back offensively from last year.

I love how we went from, "He wants to be here, we want him here, and we're gonna pay him to make it happen" to "I wonder what we can get for him?"

Obviously the "what can we get for him?" is only valid if he no longer wants to be here long term

I wonder how much pressure he is getting from the NHLPA to not give much of a hometown discount??

What's the timeline on this whole sitch? I'm not familiar with how things work with RFAs. We filed for arbitration to give us more time to negotiate, during which another team can't drop an offer sheet on him, right?

At what point do we have to start worrying about offer sheets? When is the arbitration hearing?

After arbitration (if it gets that far), we have to either agree to what the arbiter says or let him walk for nothing, right?

Arbitration eliminated any chance of an offer sheet. With this being a team elected arbitration (vice player elected), there are no walk away rights. If this goes to the 2 Aug hearing, both sides are bound by the arbiter's decision.

I want to say July 18th for some reason. Not sure if that info will be released to the public though.

IIRC the CBA says something along the lines of before the hearing.

I suspect Weber, because Doughty has meehan, and Weber is facing arbitration, so he will be signed by August 4th at the latest.

I hope Weber signs first because I fear Doughty is going to get more than we wold like to give Webs..
