Sergei Samsonov is the best choice out there.

You know what, fine, I really dislike the guy. I think he's the worst kind of European player out there: a fragile playmaker that REFUSES to play defense. We needed him this year to either play 1st or 2nd line minutes, score 50 points and get his last big contract some where else. But he's not going to. Sorry if I'm a bit pissed, but I can call him a moron all I want. The guy should probably have been taking it a bit slower after a hip surgery. Now we have to either waste money on a player that isn't worth the money or trade valuable assets to cover for him. Yay!

Can't see a trade involving Brass or Vermette. I know we're talking wings vs. centers and whatnot but it's top 6 forward depth. Doesn't make sense to trade it. If you can work a trade involving 2012 pick(s) and one of the big 3 D prospects, then you probably look at it (although to trade Moore/Savard/Goloubef, you better be getting a guy you would at least consider keeping for more than the season).

Vermette needs to be taking faceoffs. and RyJo isn't ready yet.

That's an interesting idea. I'm a little worried about the Johan getting top minutes early or banking on him for our top-6. But I like the idea of putting him with some vets that could actually do some damage. This might be a good option if we can't pick up another top-6 forward before the season starts.

While I agree with both points, I think they think Ryan is ready and they want him to develop as a C.

I'm thinking Wolski would probably be the best bet if he is bought out.

He's not fragile. His history will show that he actually missed very few games prior to last season. He's the type of player we need, too. Skill players are needed as much as grit and piss types. No one else on CBJ can handle the puck like Juice. Hate him? Don't really get that, myself. Where are we gonna replace his 60 points?

We were only going to get half a season out of Juice and this is going to be his last season here unless we show we can go deep, oh God please. This news may force a play that should have been made anyway.

Providing this information is correct

Salary Cap

Long-Term Injuries:
A player expected to miss at least 10 games and 24 days due to injury can be listed as a long-term injury (LTI).
An LTI can be covered by replacement players, as long as the replacement salaries do not exceed the salary of the injured player.
If the replacement salaries would push a team over the salary cap, the team is allowed cap relief, but only for the portion of the salary that exceeds the cap.
When the injured player returns, the team must immediately comply with the normal terms of the salary cap.

What kind of replacement can we get? It obviously allows us some money to spend for a top 6 winger on the short term but what about when he comes back January? His 4.75 mil would put us really close to the cap limit unless we pick up someone on the cheap.

I almost get the impression if we make a move now for a top six winger, there is no move to be made at the trade deadline unless we end up in seller mode again at that time.

Why is it most Blue Jackets fans are up in arms when two centers are on one line? This is a very common and strategic tactic in the NHL that have helped many championship teams win with two faceoff men.

Even so, why rush Johansen? There was this guy who was looking good last year on the top six what was his name Calvert. Yea you know....

The salary cap isn't the problem for Columbus. It's writing the checks.

He was already penciled in on the team in a 3rd/4th line role by most before Juice got hurt.
