That said, I would say that the description your giving of him fits pretty well with that impressive amount of guys that never make it. Not saying he won't, but it is not that hard to find those type of guys...
Well that can be said for most 4th line energy guys trying to crack an NHL roster. If he fills out his frame a bit more, then he's going to have impressive size, he already moves well for a tall player with good speed, so then you have a big physical guy that is quick for his size. So right there you don't have a ton of guys that are 6'4, love to hit people, has decent speed, can chip in some goals, will drop the gloves, and seems to enjoy getting under the skin of opposing players.

Of course we don't know if he will ever make it, he has made good strides since turning pro but we'll have to see what he can do if he's given a shot. I could see him getting a callup this year for a game or two. The Sens just signed his brother, maybe we can see a brother on brother fight!

Concerning the guys who need to be added still:

Westin - Injury set him back, still young
Cichy - only 21 but barely gets any playing time, sitting out the 11-12 season
Johnson - lose his rights this year, doubt they sign him
Schultz - could carve out a niche as a 4th line bruiser
Masse - hasn't done a whole lot, probably gone after this season
Lefebvre - might be in the ECHL this year

Goalies:
Simila - I thought we lost his rights already
Mayer - he'll probably go back home, or play in the ECHL this year, not much of a future with us
Delmas - had a good year in the ECHL, probably a back up in Hamilton this season

Bolded are the guys I think still have a future with us.

Thanks for the info, Montreal.

On a side note, do you think Habs will offer a contract to Wyman? Does Wyman still has a futur?

Tampa signed him earlier this week.

Wyman could be a depth guy that fills in. He's got a good frame, great skater with good speed. He works hard, he's smart, good in his own end and has some offensive skill. But he stays on the outside too much and is on the soft side, if he got more involved physically I think he could be a regular but we'll see.

But I respect your perception of Conboy, especially since I wish you're right. A reasonably fast big body would be welcomed.
It's funny that people say that Conboy can't score, he outscored Engqvist last year. He's faster, grittier, and younger than Engqvist, yet somehow he's less of a prospect

True. As Watsatheo alluded to, before last season he joined the Bulldogs as the best defensive forward AND highest goal scorer in the Q. Lots of potential there.

At #19, no love for MacMillan and Walsh. A bit surprising. Our prospects do tend to flatten out quickly, but these are guys that have some offensive skills, albeit mainly restricted to Junior A hockey and projected into NCAA hockey. Better than Dumont? Probably nope at this position, and at their respective points of their development. A few guys above could have fallen. This is what makes voting fun!! Cheers.

You're right. But personnaly, I sdon,t consider Enquist as a better prospect. But I do think he's closer to have his chance in the NHL because his game has more maturity. But in the long run, I think both will have hard times sticking in the NHL.

Considering they played on the same line all year, Engqvist should easily be considered a better prospect. His all round game is miles ahead of Conboy. Yes Conboy is faster, gritter and younger but Engqvist was a beast in the defensive zone, great on face-offs and he can setup plays. His hockey sense is much higher then Conboy's. I happen to like both but having watched them all year, I would take Engqvist over Conboy by a fair amount. That said, I've been watching Conboy in the USHL, NCAA and AHL, so I've seen the improvement he's made each year and if he can keep improving at this rate then he could make it closer. Engqvist I only saw a little of him in the SEL, WC's before coming to Hamilton so what you see could be what you get although I wouldn't say for sure that's the case.

I like Walsh, he needs to fill out his frame but he should be in our top 20. Has decent hands and a tall frame but the knock I heard on him from Dartmouth fans is that he needs to be more consistent offensively considering he plays in the top 6 and PP on a team that had a decent offense.

He was also drafted out of Junior A, and in the 6th round. He's got a ways to go before Habs fans start paying attention to him.

Sorry I've left this open for so long. We had a Welsh touring side come down and stay with us for a few days and play against us (We got dusted). I've been hanging out with them for like 3 days. So I'll end this now.

Greg Pateryn 39 votes; 28.68% of the vote. Adding Westin.

Mods please close.
