Was there any point getting Wilsie when you can't even fit Berger and Massé in the line-up?
If Berger and Masse can't beat two of Schultz, Nattinen, Lefebvre and Bishop for spots in Hamilton, they should be in Wheeling. Internal competition is a good thing.

Masse isnt good. Berger will have to sit for some games I think. Wilsie is a very good AHLER( PPG). Its a developement league but you also need good veterans to help the youngsters.

To improve the team by adding a solid AHL vet. You need some vets in the lineup.

I don't think Fortier or Masse have any foreseeable future with the organization.

He was dominate in the AHL, easily one of the best defensive forwards in the AHL as a rookie.

The Randy's seem to like Masse a good bit, he works hard and is solid in his own end.
I too wonder if Palushaj will have what it takes to be a top-6. He's a very good all-around player, but you're always looking for some elite aspect of a player's game to convince yourself he has a shot on a NHL offensive line.
On the other hand, Palushaj case kind of reminds me of a home-grown player who used to be seen the same way back when he was playing in the AHL. They don't play the same position but back then, people were also wondering if Plekanec could ever be anything more than a potential third-line player.
Palushaj is a likable prospect, but I hate to bring up the never ending size thing. Montreal experimented with speed, but after your arch rivals in Boston win the Stanley Cup! Hell, The North-East Code of Hockey has been re-written overnight! We haven't even begun what has to be done! Started with Cole. Most of the upcoming prospects have some size. Brian Gionta's are the far exception, heck even Chris Nilan has announced he's moving to Montreal for the up coming season... War Time!

Nobody is confusing Engqvist with a Stamkos.
Given Engqvist was signed as an un-drafted free agent, the Habs has very little invested in him and I would guess he won't get many second chances.
If he do however continue to improve and establish himself as a solid NHL:er, he has a pretty intriguing skill set.

Many of the left-handed players are either at the end of their careers or replaceable minor league depth. A year from now the list would probably look something like this before new additions:
Not counting veteran NHL/AHL players added or retained for depth roles. Moving forward the two sides are pretty balanced in the organization. This is actually somewhat unusual as LHD are more common than RHD.
You watch Hamilton more than I do. Did Nash and Freddy play together for extended periods?
No most of his time was with Carle. But Nash is a little shaky in his own end, and good in the offensive zone, so a partner like St-Denis would be good for him since he could make up for Nash's mistakes/mental errors.

I knew someone would say that... but as you said for St-Denis, he has mostly played on the left side (mostly with Carle). He is probably the one that will be switched though...
As for Emelin, having to adjust to NHL style and speed is already difficult enough, I don't think making him play on his off side is a good idea.
Maybe they see a spot for McFadden on the Dogs PP? Or Nygren is coming over earlier than planned?.
Even if they sign McFadden, they will likely need another body or two for depth. Nygren confirmed he's staying in the SEL next year, and with the transfer agrrement in place between Sweden/IIHF/NHL, he would have had to have signed by this past Friday in order to come over I believe.

St-Denis moved to the right side when Carle moved up to be paired with Nash. So he can play on the right side.

Stejskal played on the PP his entire time at Dartmouth, so he could see time on the PP. Assuming Diaz is in Hamilton, I would think he and Nash would be on the 1st PP with St-Denis on the 2nd.
Losing Carle is going to help Nash develop I think.
On a side note....PG has done a good job adding some beef to the organization. Two questions...is Alex Henry going to be back? Do the Bulldogs have a tough guy, is Bonneau signed this year?
It's going to be nice to be able to call up Conboy & Blunden for those mid-season games against the bruins to fill in for injuries.

Really excited to see Stejskal get a full year in the AHL. It would be so nice to have a project like him work out, even if it's just as a depth guy. Even though I can never spell his damn name without cheating!
Yes, Henry is still signed for one more year. (for 2011-12)
AFAIK, he didn't re-sign with the Dogs or gone anywhere else at this point.
Thanks! I'm glad Henry is back. He seems like a good stabilizing force for the dogs. Maybe they figure Schultz is ready to be the tough guys this year?
