Cliche 525k/1yr 2 way

renhockey Renaud P Lavoie
#kings Marc-andré cliche 1 an (year) / 525 000 (2 way)

Changed to speculation cause this is the only tweet i've seen on it so far and didn't know if Lavoie announcing it is ok to give out a "confirmed" title.

Manchester keeps their captain until a new one comes along.

Ren Lavoie is pretty dang solid.

I agree with the Meh sentiments about retaining Cliche but the guy has an NHL skillset and it wouldn't surprise me if he ended up spending a season or two up in the bigs somewhere down the road. I handful here and a handful there sort of thing.

He isn't a bad prospect.

why?

Is it that you love all low level signings?

Then you should check out the prospects board, I have seen bantaam signings announced down there. You will love it!

Being Manchester's captain is like the kiss of death. Marty Murray, Brendan Buckley, Cliche, Bagnall, Rullier, those are just off the top of my head.

To be Monarchs captain, you must be a career AHL'er.

What is creepy is how much it is alike the old IHL. That was the graveyard of the Pacific for would be NHL captains.

Isn't that the best way to do it though? You'd be rotating captains on a constant basis otherwise due to call-ups, promotions, and demotions and whoever is captain that is first in line to the NHL probably wouldn't have Manchester as their main focus or priority, at least not as focused as some of the others with more stability and likely careers in the AHL.

CapGeek shows Cliche signed to terms OP stated - $525,000 / 1 year / two-way.

I agree with others who believe Cliche can at best be a useful player for the Kings and at worst a solid veteran and captain for Manchester. Deep depth is a good thing.

During that brief call-up to the Kings, the guy did not look out of place one bit.

If it comes down to centering our 4th line, I'd trust Cliche before trusting Richardson, as Cliche is more defensively responsible. He's also cheaper, BTW.

Unfortunately for him, he only makes 62,000 unless he makes the big club.

Likely the call-up if Lewis gets injured. I'm sure he's ready for some fourth line duty but I guess it's just a numbers game keeping him out right now.
