It seems as though Blunden brings exactly what Conboy is advertised to bring. I'd say it would take several injuries (knock on wood) to our forwards before Conboy gets called up.

One more year in Hamilton I think. He's progressed well.

I fell in love with Conboy at the last training camp.. Big strong tough to play against, decent hands, perfect guy to replace Moen next year..

I don't know if he'll ever make it to the NHL, but I'll never forget that Golf gesture.

Would love to see him called up later in the season and be the 13th forward who could be called upon to play when the Bruins are in town.

Well if Henry could get called up for a Bruins game, I suppose if there are some nagging injuries, then I cannot see why Conboy couldn't. No holds barred Vs Boston this up-coming season!

I wouldn't mind his cheapshot skill against the Bruins, that's for sure.

Everytime I watch him in camp he seems to always been chasing the play. Not that he's slow, but it looks like he's only out there to look for hits and fights. I understand he's trying to carve out a niche for himself in camp, and Montreal lacks a big fighter, but he should start playing the game he's good at, and fight when he has to. Anticipating the play would help with hitting guys while they still have the puck too.

From the handful of Dogs game I saw this year, so no expert. He's out there watching the guy & never the puck, I'm not sure that you can make the NHL just doing that anymore, then again Carcillo got signed again.

dude is 23 y/o and he's nowhere near NHL level......Saying he's an AHLer for life is a safe bet at the moment.

With Martin coaching he'll have a short leash. One or two mistakes he'll be sitting in the rafters like P.K. Subban.
Martin is terrible when it comes to young players he would have benched Subban even longer last year if it wasn't for Jean Beliveau and Serge Savard sticking up for Subban saying he has to play to learn.
That's also why he doesn't want to waste space with an enforcer on the team. Martin is more concerned about HIS wins and losses. Martin doesn't give a flying wazoo if his players get pummelled like what happened in the Beatdown in Beantown this year. His actions spoke for him. Martin didn't respond the next game. Players Coach ...No way.
Somebody like Conboy would certainly help but he has to be given a chance like Lars Eller. Eller was given ice time and didn't deserve it most nights but he did improve. Conboy needs to be given that chance too but it's hard to say he will get because he wasn't acquired in the Halak trade. That's another topic. Did we get enough for Halak?

Darche and DD say hello. Having said that, I agree that there's a good chance he doesn't improve, but don't count him out because he's 23.

Age is no issue, it's the spirit & willing that counts!

In General, sorta! Age doesn't matter(true), spirit does work(true) in Conboy's case now talent is a whole diff story.

To be fair to Conboy, last year and this year there's been 1 spot open with a couple of prospect well ahead of him.

This is a big part of the logic behind my reasoning here. Like I said what's going to make them give Conboy a shot over Engvist, Palushaj et all.

Problem is Conboy is a one trick pony & Blunden just came in & top dogged him for his job with a little NHL Experience & perhaps a little smarts.

If some of you remember how Gregory Stewart played, maybe that is a good comparison....but Conboy is bigger and meaner.....hopefully he won't cough up the puck like Stewart did in the NHL.

My prediction is that Conboy will fight for a spot in training camp and will get a cup of coffee this year. Play half a season next year & stick 3 years from now...kind of like White did.
good analysis, thanks for that

hopefully he learns to at least be responsible defensively so the habs can have some use for him
