Even that isn't that weak. Fratting, Ross, Nicholls, McKegg, Biggs, Brenner (who was very solid on the Marlies), Mueller, D'Amigo and Caputi. It doesn't really have a standout player with top line elite potential but its deep to an extent and well balanced. You have your scorers, your grinders, your hybrids etc.
This is what I think we are lacking at the wings, top line potential or someone that you can say "top 6 for sure" kind of guy. IMO Kadri is going to be a top 6 player, with the potential to be a top line player (I still consider him a C propect FWIW).
A straight up might make some sense. Kadri is currently projecting more as an offensive winger with an edge with the possibility of being a center as he matures while Turris is currently projecting more as a two way center. If Burke wants to add more of a sure thing down the middle, I might see the temptation to consider this deal.
French is saying this is close but this is the first I've heard of a trade involving Turris and Kadri and whether this statement is accurate, I'm not sure?
Just heard one off the grapevine that there are rumblings of a trade between Phoenix and Toronto that would involve Kyle Turris for Nazem Kadri. Brian Burke wants to add another talented young center to his depth chart and one with the pedigree of still being considered a top-prospect while Kadri he feels will not be a center down the road and more likely will slot on the wing which is not an organizational need.
Maybe it's just a rumour but if you look at our prospect pool, Colbourne stands out as our #1 Center, then it drops to Sam Carrick and assuming that Kadri is going to be a winger, it does leave us with very few Centers coming up in the system and Sondre Olden is at least a few years away.
If Burke was interested in getting Turris, and this deal were to happen, why would it go down AFTER he picked up Connolly and Lombardi? If we failed to sign a no. 1 C, this trade would've made more sense. Right now, Kadri is slated to come in as a winger and that's that. We're getting trolled hard by HockeyBuzz.
what's worse is that there's people actually believing this
sometimes it's hard to tell who's dumber. people who run hockeybuzz or people who read it
Oh, the people that read it are infinitely dumber. In fact, that Eklund clown is a friggin genius. He has built a pretty valuable site out of nothing...literally nothing. His fellow "bloggers" now understand the key to getting hits is including the Leafs in their rumours.
