There has been a total black hole as far as Hannan is concerned, so whether he's looking for salary, for term, or what that teams have found unreasonable is totally unknown. There has been no reliable indication of what he wants to do, be it wait for the Caps, sign anywhere for the highest bidder, wait it out until a team has an injury, etc.
Just hope we don't have another Eric Belanger summer event with Hannan.
The INOVA blood drive is next week and they are giving away Jeff Schultz bobbleheads and tee-shirts. Perhaps GMGM doesn't want to hurt the blood drive and is waiting till its over to move Schultz.
Also noted that Schultz will be a the drive and that he will be donating his blood. Didn't think that he would be an eligible donor after having mono last year.
not that i really care but can u tell me what happens/happened with mr. nasty ? i bet he could make way more on the market if he is not already signed by another team.
SWhyno | Stephen Whyno | J.P. Barry said Karl Alzner would have taken #Caps' qualifying offer ($826,875) if no deal was done by deadline of 5 p.m. Friday.
It's a good deal for Washington, by contrast. The plus up from the qualifier this year is definitely worth not having to pay the much larger salary hike next summer when he'd otherwise have arbitration rights.
Not surprised about the $ but I am surprised about the 2nd year given the modest contract. Nice deal for the Caps but its the 2nd year I'm really glad about. Also, Shultz leaving is still just a pipe dream and unless Hannan is taking a big discount its not likely he comes back- at this point in the summer he may have to take a discount if he wants to be on a contender though. There's always the Islanders and there $10 mil under the mandatory cap minimum I suppose.
Part I #Caps Karl Alzner on his deal on Fan960: "Looking at comparables maybe I did sacrifice a bit there. Sometimes you have to do that..."
Part II #Caps Alzner on his deal on Fan960 "...You have to make a nice friendly bridge now & then in long run things work out for next deal"
Awesome comments from Alzner. I see no bad blood at all...

It is tough to peg the value of a DD man. I think his numbers should be closer to Sarge's numbers. Good work JP, I think you had him pegged better than anyone. I am stunned he came in that low. He definitely had no bad blood as I had speculated may be in play if a big offer sheet came and he had to decide what to do.
Moth and Mole, do you think posters are dumb enough to believe that people actually said the ridiculous things you imply? Ruined his career, slave camp? Really? Sure the OP baited you, but at least try to discuss the topic at hand, and have some respect for the kid. This is the Karl Alzner signing thread, not your big chance to win an internet exaggeration contest.
Great stuff and it shows Alzner wants to stay here. I really am happy over this deal. With all this excitement this off season, I can't help but be optimistic we may get Hannan signed too. Now I can enjoy summer.
unbelievable signing GMGM really has been on the ball this offseason working out deals that make sense for this team...now all he has to do is trade that bum schultz and we are set!

I think Hannan is waiting for us to do something, there is no way in hell a guy like him goes this long without signing unless he is waiting for the best opportunity. I'm sure he's had plenty of offers, there's a reason he hasn't taken anything yet.

The thing is....people know when we exaggerate. When someone says....
"The chickens are coming home to roost. McPhee played games with Alzner, and Alzner is going to make him pay for it."
its hard to tell. Maybe Atlas was exaggerating, didnt seem like it.....didnt seem like it when you argued his point.
If you dont like people pointing out how wrong you were/are, dont post ridiculous thoughts like that....
