Briere

Has his contract been justified after last season?
What is he worth to us?

there's a reason why we kept him and Giroux over Carter and Richards

The more the cap increases, the nicer this deal is looking.

I haven't questioned his deal since year 1. His playoff performance alone makes me forgive him.

I think his salary was justified when he decided to sign with the worst team in the League... paving the way. IMO they had to overpay and the top three UFA centers that season were in high demand... I think it's pretty clear no that he was the best of those signings over the long haul.

Except for a couple seasons back IMO he has proved his worth in the Regular Season and even more so in the Postseason.

When he won me over was in his first Flyers season IIRC when he ended up playing with such a bad shoulder that when he scored he was unable to do his signature fist pump.

What is he worth to us? I believe he is worth his team high $6.5M for the goals and when he scores those goals... for his presence in the Playoffs when he gives the Flyers a chance to win each series... and for his quiet leadership, especially with the team changing and losing Richie and Carts. I think he will complete his contract here.

In my opinion, just his scream: "I am not ready to go home!' in the locker room during game 6 of the Bufallo series and what it caused is worth his contract.

Just kidding, I want him to score too

But seriously, that's the leadership we have needed and will need in a future.

qft

also, he is proving to be CLUTCH in the playoffs. He got us through boston the other year and is AMAZING against Montreal and Buffalo pretty much every time we play.

His goals and assists dropped off drastically after the all star game and while he played well against his old team in the playoffs, he was terrible against Boston. If he puts up 70+ points, his contract isn't an issue because people don't notice his defensive play but if he doesn't, and this year will be very telling, people will be all over him again, just as they were a few years ago.

His cap hit was an issue for a few years because the cap wasn't anywhere near as high as it is now and the fact is, he has a NMC and there is no way he's going to move it because he and his wife split up but both have custody of the 3 kids so unless she's willing to move, I can't see him going.

Still a bad cap hit for what he brings (in the regular season at least) but it doesn't look nearly as bad as it did 2 years ago. For his clutch playoff performances, what he brings to the locker room, and his pretty good production when healthy its not the worst contract in the world.

It's hard to go against him when all he does is produce in the playoffs. If you look at his 4 years here(playoffs), he has produced at a high rate in 8 of our 10 playoff series. The only series' where he didn't have a big impact on were the ECF in '08 and this past year vs Boston. He was unreal in the finals two years ago.

yea, but everyone sucked against boston...not really the guys fault.

he THRIVES in the playoffs, and i think he has matured a bit and is more willing to use his linemates. (still hes not afraid to let it rip, and his slapper is such a dart...)

even his playoff beard is looking better

You don't have to call me Jesus Woof, just Woof will do.

Or did you mean"Jesus, Woof, use a full stop? 'Cause if you did, you forgot to include 2 commas as well as a period at the end of the last sentence.

What was it you were complaining about?
