I think Boyle's going to come into this season brimming with confidence. He proved to himself last year that he could do it. He wore down in the 2nd half, but I think he'll be more prepared for the grind this year.
I'd like to see him get a chance at 1st line LW, just to see what he can do with Richards and Gabby. If he can produce there, that's a pretty solid top 6 with the pack line.
We're getting boyle for like 1 mil for his RFA year, and 2 mil each for 2 UFA years, how the hell is that bad?
If we signed him for 1 mil 1 year the same people *****ing about 3 years 5.1 mil would be complaining that he's gonna put up great #s this season and that we should've locked him up longer.
If boyle goes back to putting up < 10 points / season then the rest of his contract isn't a concern, he's going to be in the minors. So 3 years is good for the team, if he does well we get him cheap for 2 more years, if not he's going to be off the team.
How do you compara Prucha to Boyle? Talk about total opposite players and styles.

I was saying that I wouldnt be surprised if Boyle's 2011 season would be the best he had as a Ranger, to include subsequent seasons. Much like Prucha in 2006.
I don't think this is necessarily a bad contract, but the expectation is that Boyle will produce more than the prototypical 4th liner a la Betts or Ortmeyer when they played here.
The question is, which Boyle will show up for the majority of his contract? The one we saw in the first half of the season that was physical, drove to the net, and generated offense? Or the one that we saw in the second half of the season that was reminiscent of how he played in past seasons - disengaged from physical contact and making poor decisions with the puck (the game against Anaheim comes to mind)? Let's hope it's the former rather than the latter.

Good for the Rangers, good for Brian Boyle, they both deserve it.
Boyle needs to keep working on skating and using his body better. It takes a little longer for a big guy to reach his potential, and he is starting to grow in to himself. Glad we locked him up
