Campoli not coming back according to Bowman

Was reported on the Score. If true, that is really, really weird.

I hope this isn't some pissing match between Campoli and Bowman that results in us getting Lepisto and more cap space. If Bowman really wants to legitimize his thought process, he definitely needs to make a trade for something to help the team.

Foregone conclusion after Lepisto signing.

Seems really stupid. At least try to trade him before August 3rd. This makes no sense.

Right, but you try to move him for a player or prospect instead of just dumping him. You basically traded prospects and a 2nd round pick for 30 games.

as far as i have heard, they haven't said they're just going to dump him. They just said he won't be re-signed. They can still package him in a trade.

This is a bad move and downgrade by not getting Campoli. If it does anything good; it is this: IT SENDS A MESSAGE TO PLAYERS IF YOU WANT TO BE A BLACKHAWK....and play for a winner then be reasonable and avoid arbitration.

Exactly. This can't help his trade value.

First: Welcome to the wild world of deadline rentals.

Second: Ryan Potulny is not "prospects."

So it definitely sounds like Campoli priced himself off the hawks. 3mil per? yea, no thanks. Most he should get would be the Frolik contract. 3yrs/7mil.

A guy I know from another board said he saw toews and campoli at the beach like 6-8 weeks ago and he talked to them for a little bit. He said campoli seemed like a tool, makes it easier to believe now .

An RFA should never be a rental that results in no return. If Campoli was to be a UFA instead, I doubt he would have brought back a 2nd.

But he was a RFA so he wasn't necessarily a rental. He still has value.

true. I think they get something. It might be bad like a 4th rounder but it will be something.

Where is Dale Tallon? Dale can you give us something for Campy?

Never thought I'd say this but right now I hate cap space. I'm optimistic Bowman has big plans for it though.

I'm glad he won't be back and that Bowman didn't give into his demands. That will teach players for going to arbitration with Chicago.

First Niemi, and now Campoli. If players don't want to play in Chicago, get them the hell out of here.

I'm upset because our team is worse now than it was before this, but I'm willing to live with that just for the sake of letting all other RFA's know that CHicago doesn't F around.

I wonder though, why does Bowman come out and publicly say this, or even tell Chris this? Why not just keep quiet, shop him to other GM's, if you don't get a trade, see what the arb. award is and if it's something awesome, take it!

But I guess if they are that far apart, Campoli clearly doesn't care to be a part of the Hawks, so adios.

It'd be funny if he ended up signing in Detroit.

Ya, I bet the Hawks can't wait to grab pucks out of mid air and go in on breakaways!

I'm not sure Campoli is worth a 2nd...Just like more than half the league wouldn't think Brouwer was worth a 1st...

Now we paid a 2nd rounder for Campoli at the deadline...

Philly paid a 1st and 3rd for Versteeg and 6 months later Dale gets Versteeg for a 2nd & 3rd...

Campoli is worth a 3rd..... in a high market a 2nd.... and at a deadline when you lose him and get nothing if you don't sign him you take what you can get. Hello 4th round pick....

If Stan gets a 4th normal a 3rd good and if somebody pays a 2nd rounder for Campy we robbed them like we did Washington.

If all we got was a 5th I would be mad.

Stupid. Just give him an inflated salary for one year while we have the cap space to do so.
