Komi was terrific with Markov, he has a bad contract but could be worth it IF he can regain his confidence under the guidance of Markov... For the record I am on the fence but
Komi 2 more years @ $4.5 mil
For
Spacek at $3.8 for 1 years
Spacek isn't as bad as some make him out to be. And if one of the more offensive minded d-men goes down he can offer something to compensate whereas Komi would be another albatross.

If komisarek still played like he used to, I'd put past aside and take him back because he was at times, an absolute beast. That being said, he regressed quite a lot, and I wouldn't want him back because of that. I care about having best team, if komisarek was an upgrade, i'd do it(he isn't though).
Despite his unforgivable betrayal, Komi was a serviceable defensman in the right pairing. However, he's fallen so far down the ladder that I don't think we'd even get back the Komi of old, but rather a player who's a shell of his former self who would no longer be asked to take a leadership role. For that and a bunch of other reasons I say he should dwindle into the dried up turd he's become. I'd rather have Spacek for another 2 years then take Komi back.
I kinda feel bad for the guy. I'm pretty sure I can speak for all of us (Habs fans) and say that he was the future captain of this team. He was a leader on and off the ice. Perhaps he didn't have any real offensive output, but god damn, he was a rock defensively. All that while being physical and punishing (anyone remember his hit on Thornton in the playoffs?). Komisarek vs Tucker was such a treat to watch.
Whenever he was on the ice, I was "happy". Now, whenever he's on the ice, I'm still happy..
@bcv Nobody is questioning what he did for us, Just when the pressure cooker heated up he ran. Many of us liked him & when he left the way he did! Well it's just a good thing the rest of us stay & fight! If he went to LA or something, but not the enemy!

Pressure cooker? He went from Montreal to Toronto.
Don't kid yourself, it was all about the money. Toronto simply offered a price that Montreal wasn't ready to offer.
