Just curious on how valuable he really is.
He has really flown under the radar playing with the Islanders, but i honestly think he was one of, if not the, best defencemen on the team last season.
Hamonic was better imo... i'd offer a 2nd + decent-good prospect
Hamonic was good physically, but amac led this defense with streit and eaton out
He put up good offensive numbers and played great defense
I'd say his value is pretty high since his contract is a bargain and his overall game is solid

This, although Hamonic has much higher upside. I think Macdonald is a decent middle pairing guy right now, with potential to be a very good number 3 defenseman, whereas Hamonic has potential to be a #1 defenseman IMO.
He is definitely not available, his contract is a steal, and he is one of our 3 legit top 4 defenseman, we need more defenseman not less.

I agree, hamonic has the potential to be a weber type player
i see him as a 2nd pairing dman that can seamlessly step up to the first pairing incase of injury and his contract is one of the best in the league, hes pretty untouchable unless the islanders get blown out of the water and he is only going to get better hes was only a sophmore this season and i liked him just as much when he was called up from the bridge, i dont think the islanders are trading him unless they get completely blown away

I loved how Harmonic played, but felt MacDonald played as well if not better.
Hamonic being so impressive as a 20 yr old rookie, really has nothing to do with MacDonald's value.
After Snow politely declines,he laughs his azz off.24 yr old MacDonald played over 22 mins a game this season.Quality mins. His $500,000 salary is a bargain.
that 2nd?When is it joining the nhl team and contributing? In 3-4 yrs if the isles are lucky.
That decent-good prospect gets lost among the glut of NYI prospects.
And if you think about, MacDonald has made a great climb to get to where he is
He was a 6th round pick
Did not look good at first in the AHL, went to the ECHL
Looked good going back to the AHL
Got his stints with the Islanders, played well
Basically pushed out Andy Sutton from the Isles defense to make room for himself, receiving that four year extension (Sutton was later traded)
Only legit way I can see AMac moved is for one of the top RFAs on the market, if they back Garth into a corner. Sorta like Schenn in the Richards deal - the key piece Los Angeles never wanted to move in the first place, but rationalize it because they got Mike Richards.
If Garth wants Doughty/Weber/Stamkos/Parise, the asking price will start with one of Hamonic/AMac (if the other team wants the deal built around defense, otherwise Tavares/Grabner/Nino/Strome is heading back), another player/prospect or two, and maybe some picks.
Any attempts to acquire AMac for prospects, picks, or typical hfboards "take my trash" proposals would be laughed off.

AMac should be considered untouchable at his salary. If he was being paid fair value, I'd think about trading him for an upgrade, but he's such a bargain that I wouldn't think about moving him.

If Weber prices himself out of Nashville, and they offer something like MacDonald/Comeau/Koskinen, I think Snow pulls the trigger. Nashville would probably want more than that, but for the sake of my example, it works.
Tavares is really the only untouchable player because everyone else in our system I'd trade for Stamkos
People need to realize that Garth isn't going to just take Komisarek. He's horrible.
coming from a leafs fan, i wouldnt say he's horrible.
he is by no means the player he once was, and for his contract, hes bad, but not horrible. and he's turned into a really good team guy
reality is you guys NEED more salary. he may not be a top 4 guy but the top four you have right now actually isnt that bad, plugging komi in as even a number 6 would add some stability and get you that much closer to the floor.
thats why i also suggested mccabe. except hes an even better leader, has learned to play a more responsible game in florida, can put up a lot better numbers and still brings you closer to the floor.
cory stillman on forward would also be a wise choice to help out the salary. obviously none of these guys are top4/top6 players anymore, but your team missed out by choosing to sign no one. youre not going to get top players while keeping your roster intact anymore
EDIT: For the record, this nvr was a Komisarek FOR MacDonald thread lmfao. Originally wanted to know AMac's value, then secondarily some one said Isles needed another D, so i suggested Komi. Komi for a pick, or Komi and a pick for a minor leaguer or smthg ******.

Komisarek is a #6 defenseman who holds a $4.5M cap hit for the next 3 years; there is also a NMC in his contract.
I don't think any team would take him for free. Certainly not the Isles, who will likely be looking to add significant pieces during free agency in the summer of '12/'13, where Komisarek could potentially hinder that ability.
I just can't see the Isles dealing MacDonald alone for any sort of package. The only way I see them dealing him anytime soon is if he is part of a package to bring in an elite player. Right now, at the salary he is making, I don't see how dealing him makes any sense. So I'd say what it would cost to get him is probably a lot higher than his actual value(which is pretty high to begin with).
MacDonald, Hamonic and de Haan will be a part of the Isles defensive core for a long time. I think they will want to build around them, not break them apart.
