I thought he would have stayed, just after watching him behind the bench, as an injured player. He really looked at home here.
I think most people, at the time, expected Komi to get more than that. Maybe 3, 3.5 tops. The guy was at the top of the league for blocked shots and hits for a few years. And he was still young (well... he still is).

He's really not as bad as some people are painting him out to be. His contract isn't even THAT bad, if he gets back in form. He's just looked terrible in Toronto's system, which really doesn't surprise me. I think he's playing with very little confidence.

He needs to keep his game simple, like he did for us. Block shots. Be annoying to opponents. And just clear the puck. Don't try those fancy cross ice passes in front of your goalie.

For the purpose of the topic: if it means he gets to play with Markov, nah, I don't want him back. That's too much ice time I'd rather give to our other defensemen. We have Gill that can fill his role to a certain extend.

Komisarek was never good. Markov actually did most of the work between the two of them. Beside blocking shots and putting your body into someone he was useless.
He could not make a pass, could not shoot or figure out what to do with the puck.

Ps he actually signed for less with the Leafs. From what I've heard Burke offered him a spot on Team USA for 2 tourneys and Mike didn't like all his team mates partying every night.

Good riddance. Subban will not leave trust me. He grew up a Habs fan with his younger bro.

The Habs currently have 7D with Markov, Emelin, Gorges, Spacek, Gill, Subban and Weber. Diaz, Nash, and Mitera are the backups.

About ten games into the season, there will be the usual 3 or so injuries in the Habs top 6 dmen, so hypothetically we'd be left with Markov, Emelin, Gill, and Weber as our top 4, with Diaz and Mitera on the bottom pairing. At that point I could see the Habs sending a 2nd round draft pick to Toronto for Komisarek, though Burke might turn that down.

Traitor can go **** himself and rott in hell. I wouldn't take him for a 7th rounder in 2020. Markov made him what he was here. He got his big bucks elsewhere, and everybody can see now that he alone doesn't even worth piss and ****.l

Then again, he could be similar to Souray, who really came to his own kinda late as well (offensively I mean)

I dont want to lose him, but I dont want to see another 20 + minute a game season for 1 goal and 13 points, at over 4.5 mil.

That is a glaring weakness from a top 2 defender.

I personally truly hope he sticks around, but I am also going to be brutally honest, and IMO we could do very well with Beauchemin, who has the point totals I like,

In a final note, PK Subban, I saw in Belleville... this kid is going to be an incredible defenceman for us when he arrives... Easily the most creative defenceman I have seen in the CHL... & an intense desire to win that is clearly visible from the top of the arena.

We are kinda spoiled with that coming down in the chute...

Combine the addition of a Beauchemin, with the maturing of O'Byrne, and add in an x - factor of a Emelin (if he decides to or not) or a Subban, Carle, or Benoit... we might be able to survive Komi's departure...

I'd miss him, but he is not the key piece simply because he hasnt progressed very much (offenively)
DAMN LOL That was my answer back then... and I am STILL sticking to it

(Minus the Beauche***** part)

Nice job ghost#1! The title for the best prediction still belongs to newhabsera though, back in the day he was called Plekanec here on HF cause he was crazy about the guy, and everybody saw him at max potential 3rd line center except him. I still remember somebody writing " he overrates Plekanec so much he thinks he's the next Chistov but with a better work ethic..."

I think emelin has very good chance of being everything komisarek was for us and more...

I would love to see the end of the year with the following pairing...

Markov, Emelin
Gill, Subban
Goerges, Webber

And few years down the road...
Markov, Emelin
Tinordi, Subban
Beaulieu, Georges

Spacek at $3.8 for 1 years

Komi --- Markov
Georges---Subban

On re-entry waivers, claiming him on the condition that the Leafs eat Spacek's contract for a 7th round pick.

Never, and not because he sucks now because he does, but the way he left and went to one of our biggest rivals was a complete joke. The guy was being groomed to be captain and he gave the organization a big FU. He has lost a step and has terrible anticipation and vision, a declining Spacek is still better than Mike at this point.

The extra toughness he would bring would be negated by blind passes up the middle, stupid penalties, and consistently getting beat by shifty players. Big no on Komo!

Komisarek is pretty tradable, i've seen wrost defencemen with wrost contract traded. I doubt the Leafs gives 1/2 price Khomo for a 7th round pick.

If we can absorb his contract without handcuffing us till the end of it, let's go for it... but sit him most of the time and never never play him with Markov. Play Spacek ahead of him and do nothing to prevent the fans from booing him... if you smell what i'm coocking.
