Flyers sign Marcel Noebels

Just saw that we signed him to a three entry level contract. No link.

Broad Street Hockey reported it.

European player vs non-European player. He is going back to Germany for one year, so they want some insurance that he will come back.

EDIT: Well some seem to think he is going to come back to the WHL. I remember him stating in a interview that he was going back to Germany... weird.

I quoted the wrong post. I meant to refer to Couturier

Oh ok. Well in that case I agree with you there. Wish he could play in the AHL, but I guess one more year in the QMJHL is fine. From what I saw at camp, he isnt ready. He could look differently at the main camp, but so far not so much.

His skill and all that are NHL ready. What isnt is his weight. For being tall, he is way to lanky and will get killed out there.

I think you're right, but do you not get signing bonuses on ELC's, even if it slides? Otherwise, there would be no reason for him to sign if he went back to Germany.

Disagree. DO NOT sign Couturier. No rush, except you waste a contract on the 50 contract limit. No way Couturier is ready this year. No need to rush him.

Am I the only one who can't wait to see what kind of player he becomes? Especially if he gets to the NHL?

They could sign Couturier and if he doesn't make the team, they could loan him out to juniors and not have it count against the contract limit. I wouldn't be surprised if they do the same with Noebels.

ya, slide contract. they can sign the player, but if they send them back to juniors before playing 10 games in the season, it doesnt count as a year on the contract and doesnt count against the reserve list

Yes, but no rush to do so at the moment.

Derzeit steht ja die Entscheidung an, was du nächstes Jahr machst.

Also mein Herz schlägt schon irgendwie für beide.
That's the latest news about Noebels in German, an interview he gave to the Krefeld Pinguine Website before Development Camp. He says he has an offer from Krefeld, he will take that offer to the Flyers, talk to them and do what they think is best for him. His personal preference would be playing in Krefeld to collect experience as a pro.

I remember reading just before the prospect camp that he was going to be bringing the contract from Germany to talk things over with Homer and his staff on whether or not go there or not this upcoming year. I don't see where he has committed one way or the other for this upcoming season. Maybe there was a concern from the Flyers side that he would go back home and like it so much there he wouldn't come back? I kind of doubt it though since he seems very focused on the NHL.
