Ryan Murray or Yakupov.

A pairing of Murray - Cowen, would be the best shutdown pair lol.

So impressed with Murray's calm composure and his decision making.

Will sens still abide by this quote?

"Interesting listening to Sens director of player personnel today. Basically said the Sens won't draft Russians, regardless of talent level."
http://twitter.com/#!/NHLconnected/status/18519128592
"To clarify: Sens were not being discriminatory in saying they won't draft Russians. It is a business decision based on KHL threat."
http://twitter.com/#!/NHLconnected/status/18531194669

With the interest in Burmistrov last year, I'm certain that Yakupov and Galchenyuk aren't an issue due to their commitment to the CHL, and Galchenyuk being an American doesn't hurt either. Gigorenko's talent is undeniable. If he comes over like expected, I wouldn't be shocked to see us take him.

This is a forum dedicated to discussing prospects. What else are we going to talk about in July (or any other time of the year for that matter)?

Hoping to bottom out and grab a superstar forward but Matt Dumba is one of my favourite players in the draft.

Burmistrov is the only one that I had heard that the Sens were considering drafting, whther anyone beleives that or not.

The Murray's have ALWAYS shied away from Russians, especially at the draft table. Who know if the top 3 Russians are going to be exceptions to the case and it would be interesting if we passed on Yakupov....

My mind is completely blown at the talent of this draft, especially on defence. Murray, Ebert, Dumba, Trouba, Reinhart are all top end talent and potentially top pairing defenceman.

Realistically, we are likely looking at a minimum of a top 10 pick, and possibly higher. I know everyone is still kind of gung ho on adding another forward, but adding Ebert or Murphy would be phenomenal...

I think if the 3 Russians were NA's, we would be talking about this possibly being the best draft ever...

Waaayyyyy too early for this thread. The rankings are gonna change 1,000,000,000 times before the draft.
At the moment thats true but around the trade deadline there could be several options.

If Michalek stays healthy a plays on Spezzas wing he could score between 30-35 goals. And if Michalek has such a year it only makes sense to part with him for a first rounder+another asset.

Gonchar could have a rebound season and get us a first or second rounder at best.

The Murrays are known for trading up to acquire quality over quantity. Our second rounder + something else for a late first rounder is another possibility.

I donīt talk about Spezza and Alfie because they wonīt get traded.

So if Murray was able to get a first and a third for Fisher who had a bad season he could also get one for the players mentioned. We will see what happens.

I've only had a good look at a few of these players but I am already a HUGE fan of Yakapov, I watched a bunch of Sarnia games last year to follow Ritchie and always came out of it amazed with Yakapov's skill, he can do it all on his own, I don't think Murray would hesitate to pick this kid.

Other Noteworthy's:

Ryan Murray
Slater Koekkoek
Matia Marcantuoni
Filip Forsberg
Cody Ceci
Alex Gudbranson

I love that both our local CHL teams have Sens prospects to watch aswell now

I find it strange that as of now in most mocks he's mainly listed as a 2nd rounder, but I guess that might work in our favour

Marcuantoni might explode for Kitchener this year. He was injured and stuck on the 3rd line last year, he may end up getting 1st line minutes this year. He is a guy to watch...

Freak for Frk!

Nah, seriously, while I'd love one of Yakupov/Grigorenko/Murray/Frk, I can see us being out of the bottom four again this year.

I seriously doubt we will be any worse than last season, so I doubt yakupov is within reach.

So with that said, the top 10 changes around so much, it's almost not even worth discussing.

First of all, I live in Kingston, I have watched the Gudbranson brothers. Eric is not NHL ready imo. Alex needs time too. He is further along than his brother was at his age.

Second, with the fact that Yak is playing in Canada, I don't think the KHL threat is as real as with other Russians.

Agreed. However Russians are still Russians once they are in the NHL. Generally have a harder time playing nice and want to be paid big bucks.

Until I know a lot more about the 3 Russians, I am very, very leery of them.

We need to stockpile picks for next year.

The draft next year will be crucial for our rebuild. The year in which you pick is absolutely crucial for the rebuilding phase.

Look at the 2003 draft:

Eric Staal = Cup
Getzlaf + Perry = Cup
Horton + Stuart + Bergeron = Cup
Richards + Carter + Coburn = Finals
Fleury = Cup
Seabrook = Cup

Also 2008 is looking like a great draft with lots of Franchise players. The 2012 draft is scary deep. I'm hoping for atleast 2 first round picks, it would help rebuild this team with QUALITY.

Don't rule it out.

Even as a fan, I'd want him traded to a contender, and especially so if this is his last season. He could be a nice fit in Detroit for their playoff run.
