Alexei Yashin Rumored to Be Returning..

As per Ecklund

Now, I hate Yashin as much as the next guy. He's lazy as all hell and was the face of the hated Sens. That being said...what do you guys think of bring him in for a year as a band-aid?

I await your wrath/flaming.

I know i know, but this is HFboards and it's the offseason. There's thousands of threads based on what-ifs. So let's, for the moment, pretend that in some alternate reality Ecklund has good rumor averages. So treat it like a what-if.

No way in hell would I want Yashin on this team, even if it was for free. I dont care if he can still score 60+ pts, he is a cancer and will ruin your locker room. I know I've gotten people all riled up before when I compared Yashin to Roy but I am gonna say it again. I think that they are both similar in the fact that regardless of the points they put up, both are selfish, egotistical, self centered primadonna ********. Players like them do not make good teammates and in fact can have a terrible effect on the overall chemistry of the team.

It's actually a report from @dchesnokov, a Russian reporter who is extremely reliable.

There is some legitimacy to these rumours. Whether or not Yashin actually comes back is to be decided.

Sorry. I treat all 'rumors' the same if it's July or December. Especially coming from him.

I really don't want his work ethic anywhere near this team.

@TSNScottyMac I honestly have a very difficult time believing there's an NHL offer. But I am just passing on what was said
So even the person reporting it thinks it's nonsense.

I can't see Buffalo even batting an eye at him. Everyone knows Ruff is not a fan of Russian players & vice versa... Max was a good team guy & he still had issues with the Sabres coaching staff, same with Kalinin. Not to mention the $$$ I'm sure Yashin still thinks he's worth.

It's always Ruff's fault when Russian players are discussed. Such nonsense.

A North American player does something their coach doesn't like and gets benched : It's the players fault. He should have listened!

A European player does something their coach doesn't like and gets benched : THE COACH IS BIASED AGAINST TEH EUROS!!!

Russian players have had problems with strong minded coaching for years all over the NHL.

Tell me the last time he got anything right, other than when he lists practically the whole league in a trade rumour. He's not even silly anymore, he's useless. You could sit in your basement and make crap up and be just as effective.

I don't really care care... I wanted the the Sabres to sign Zherdev last offseason.

If he hasn't changed then they could just send him to the AHL.

Let's sign him and then trade him for Jagr. Maybe that will help convince Forsberg sign with us too.

When I think of Yashin I think of Satan, when I think of Satan I think of Yashin. Two very talented players that turned on that talent 50% of the time. Coasted and played uninspired the other 50%. No GD way do I want that "hockey player" (debatable) near the team.

hahaha, I think its his agent telling lies to try and drum up interest in him since no one in Russia wants to sign him.

no way, at least Zherdev had potential. all Yashin has is the bitter taste of a career wasted due to laziness. He should go home and enjoy that fat paycheck from the Isles.

Yashin is over 35 years old. Sending him to the AHL doesn't get him off the cap. Even if he retires he stays on the cap. It's too much risk. I'd rather sign Drury. At least we know he wants to win. And if Drury can't play, he'll probably be on LTIR where he won't impact the cap.

^I meant to get the extra bench space. I wouldn't want him for anything more than Zherdev got ($2m). Of course, I doubt the Sabres are the team that wants Yashin.

And I would like to sign Drury as well. You can't get enough leaders.
