So ready for this to be over with.

Let's just see what we've got before undergoing any more radical change.

Steven Stamkos for Giroux, Schenn, Bob and Coburn "straight up"

The average Flyer fan thinks Homer has "Totally redeemed himself". I say F Stamkos, I wouldn't trade Giroux for him straight up. After watching this offseason unfold, sadly, I can see him in Orange and Black and Tampa winning a cup in a year or two.

Richards got Schenn + Simmonds + 2nd.

So, Stamkos is getting Schenn + (Giroux + Coburn) + Bobrovsky.

So let's say...

Schenn = Schenn
2nd = Bobrovsky
Simmonds = Coburn

(I know Coburn is more valuable than Simmonds.)

Is Stamkos a Giroux better than Richards?

Not in your ****ing wildest dreams.

There's no way that would get done.

Stamkos isn't worth his "trade value" and never will be. There are few star players in the league that are worth it. Crosby and Ovechkin come to mind. Stamkos will never be worth more than 4 1st overall picks. Anyone throwing up names like Giroux and JVR are kidding themselves.

A 21 year old with 96 goals in the past two years who should only get better is not in the same class as Crosby and Ovechkin???

No way Flyers move Giroux to get Stamkos, much less move so much on top of Giroux.

If the Flyers get Stammer, it's built on Schenn with pieces and picks added.

Honestly? no.

Ovechkin posted a 100 point season with a supporting cast equal to the phantoms. As did Crosby. Both players have single handedly returned their team to power-houses in the NHL. Stamkos is good, very very good. But he's not in the same league as these guys yet. In a down year Ovechkin posted 85! points, thats 10 less than stamkos's best year.

Oh yeah, both those guys have scored over a point per game clip in the play-offs too.

I agree. But as much as I love Giroux or JVR, if they wanted to trade either of them for him straight up I would do it in a heartbeat.

This is true. However, Stamkos is 21, Ovechkin is going on 26, Crosby is going on 24. This was Stamkos's first shot at the playoffs and he has yet to reach his prime. He's only going to continue to get better.

Absolutely. I'd wave goodbye to Giroux if it was for Stammer.

I wouldnt add much to Giroux though.

Considering cap hits and length of contracts, I keep Giroux/JVR.... Sorry to the Stammer fans.

I don't think theres any chance now for the flyers to get Stamkos because of the bonus coverage from last year was 1.4 million. now we have 175K of cap space left. We trade a package for Stamkos we will need to fill out the rest of team and probably won't have enough space to do that

I wouldn't add Giroux.

No interest in Stamkos, esp. if it costs a big package of players who are (Giroux) or might be just a good in the long run (JVR, Schenn, Couturier).

Yep. I'm actually pretty happy we can't go after Stamkos. We have more than 0.175m, but we really don't have enough now.

EDIT:

Hartnell (4.20) - Briere (6.50) - Voracek (2.25)
vanRiemsdyk (1.65) - Giroux (3.75) - Jagr (3.30)
Nodl (0.85) - Schenn (3.11) - Simmonds (1.75)
Talbot (1.75) - Betts (0.60) - Shelley (1.10)
Rinaldo (0.54)

Pronger (4.92) - Carle (3.44)
Timonen (6.33) - Coburn (3.20)
Meszaros (4.00) - Gustafsson (0.90)
Bartulis (0.60) - Lilja (0.74)

Bryzgalov (5.67)
Bobrovsky (1.75)

Bonuses 2010-11 (1.40)

TOTAL: 64.30
CAP: 64.30
SPACE: 00.00

Basically, take out a defenseman and you have our 2011-12 team I assume.

Well, unless they'll take Hartnell and Timonen and couple firsts for him.....

Capgeek has us at .175m and with lappy going on ltir which he will now have to, we will have about 1.2 million. so Read or another cheap player will make the team out of camp.

Giroux is not as good as Stamkos. He may get better and he may be a better two way player, but he is not better.

Yeah but he also isn't going to handicap the team with an 8.5mil contract for 10 years. Value wise, Giroux is better.

Same here. I am patiently awaiting the trade of Stamkos so I can mock and ridicule certain posters on another site. I tried having general hockey talk about Stamkos moving but the know it all regulars mocked and insulted my thoughts. I have a full arsenal of quotes, guarantees and bets ready to post when he doesn't return to Tampa.

Rumors of him to buffalo squashed and potentially re-signing for 6-8 years.

This rumor is dying a slow death...please just end it. Going after him is not a prudent thing IMO. We go with what we have..Stamkos is what in statistics is termed overfitting...

I've said it before and ill say it again. The only way we get him is if we keep Giroux and have Giroux on his wing. That's the only way Stamkos can thrive, with a great playmaker with him.
