I wonder if they will trade others away to compensate for the spending? Maybe Malone?

I'd love Malone if the Flyers didn't already commit to the winger position so heavily, aka waste 3 million on Jagr.

If he keeps up or improves his production, he is going to get freakin PAID at the end of this contract going into his prime.

Malone is a bigger waste than Jagr.

Overpaid? Yes. Waste? That's just ********. I'd rather have the guy that we know can contribute in the NHL.

I'd rather have him over Hartnell at that number too. At least he brings some of that Knuble-esque style of play that we've coveted the past two years. Hartnell obviously couldn't fill that role.

Jaromir Jagr is perhaps the player I've disliked the most in the 25 years I've been watching hockey hardcore.

That said, what you've written here is among one of the all time most confounding composition of words I've ever seen posted on any internet forum anywhere, which is really saying something.

Funny how Malone @ 4.5 is simply overpaid, but Jagr @ 3.3 is a waste...

Well Yzerman can never be confused with Holmgren who is not exactly adept at driving a hard bargain...

He could have been PAID on this contract... Dumb agent or he wanted to play there till he had freedom to choose where to go.

That contract is still really good for a 21 year old, though I did expect it to be a little higher. He got paid. However, it's set up to give him a massive pay day if all goes well for him.

Holmgren would have gotten him to sign a 3 year deal and still be a RFA at the end.

Exactly. He'll have to learn to cut back, since he's only making $144K per week!

Hartnell is a far better player than Malone. Both have stupid contracts though.

$5 says Jagr scores more points than Malone
