I thought buyouts paid the player up front, but the cap hit is long term.

Well, Yashin is younger than Jagr. Also, while Hasek hasn't decided if he'll play next year... he is coming off two pretty good seasons (not the last playoffs though) just going by the numbers.

I sincerely hope we won't ever see Yashin in orange and black though. I'm with you on that.

Would there be a more hated team?

To the rest of the league or to Flyer fans?

yashin IS INDEED a cancer.

however, if he can get on board to play w/ jagr and they just go do their thing no questions asked...we can EASILY be a cup contender

we can't really sign anyone new right now. Homer confirmed we were at the 50 contract limit earlier today. We will be moving someone soon. Backlund on loan to Sweden gives us one contract i believe but they still need to move more than that

I REALLY want us to trade for tangradi...(if not this year, next off-season)

imagine:

Jagr-Giroux-Briere
JvR-Couturier-Tangradi (aka "move b!tch get out the way!" line)
Hartnell-Schenn-Simmonds

well i meant for this year if we moved voracek for tangradi...

albeit we SHOULD be able to get him cheaper (and voracek could sub in for jagr on that line)
jagr is definitely 1 and done methinks...

Hell no i wouldn't trade carle for tangradi. Carle has proven himself to be a good nhl player and tangradi has yet to prove anything at the NHL level.

Flyers and Pittsburgh just don't make a good partner when we are discussing trades.

Matt Carle gets a ton of hate on this board and a lot of it in unjustified. Just like any player in the league they make mistakes, but when Carle makes a mistake or is even on the ice for another players mistake he gets blamed haha..

i totally agree, carle has been way better than the treatment he has gotten. (and he has a ton of chemistry with giroux)

however, dont you think there could be some benefits in a trade like that?

we free up cap to go after a BIG UFA d-man in the offseason

not to mention tangradi has some benefits too:
hes a big boy, like REALLY big
obviously from philly, so you can consider the price discount (but more importantly the FAN support)
hes got great hockey skills, but is TOUGH too. So he can stick up for our top players (like JvR)

i know its a bit "NHL"ish snagging a prospect from Pitt and all...

but i could really see JvR Couts Tangradi as a forceful line for many years to come...
i mean JvR would be the baby of that line LOL

also, as much as im not a "carle hater" even i have to agree he's coming off a year where his stats (and value) are likely has high as they will ever be.

not that it makes HIM worse or anything...just saying if you wanted to maximize value, now is the time (IF you wanted to.)

I think if the flyers brass believes this team competes for a Stanley Cup they will not move a defender because of the uncertainty of Pronger.

I would like to have Tangradi on this team but i wouldnt want to trade anything special to get him.. prospect and a pick maybe(not that high...3rd)

The Flyers will also just let carle walk in the offseason i believe and will try to go after Weber(if he takes a one year deal from arb.) or Suter.

But like i said i don't think we have the ability to move a NHL dman because of Prongers situation

Also Pittsburgh wouldnt do this trade because they don;t need Carle at all.... They have a great set of defenders on their team as it is already

Martin-Michalek
Brooks-Letang
Nisk-Engelland

Plus they don't have the cap space for Carle

We can't be the team since we can't offer any more contracts.

However, if we're talking strictly hypothetically:

My offer wouldn't be more than 900k for 1 year. We are not desperate for his services and surely someone else would offer more.
