Cole is exactly what the doctor ordered to propel Cammy and Plek, I expect him to get 20g 30a at the least. I also expect Cammy and Plekanec's numbers to go higher thanks to his presence in front of the net.
About 40 ES points and a positive +/- facing oppositions top lines, helping Plekanec and Cammaleri do the same and I don't particularly care about the rest. Montreal already has good PP options so he isn't needed there although he could help out on the 2nd or 3rd PK pairing.
20-25G 20-25A, 180-200 hits. Might not look great but he brings it every game, even when he isn't scoring he is doing something. I think his signing is going to benefit Pleck and Cammy the most. The best part is he scores his goals on even strength.

This is where my expectations are at. Cole has never really been a "numbers" guy, so I think those who expect him to pile up the points will be disappointed. A 40-50 point player who plays a solid all-round game will be a great addition to our team.
Realistically, I'd be happy with 20G, 20A, 40Pts, 150+ Hits, and a positive +/-. Anything more would be a bonus.
That would be a nice contribution to the top 6 in general, but the other two areas where he will also benefit the team indirectly are:
- opening up space for Cammalleri/Plekanec, who should see their point totals go up playing with Cole
- allowing Kostitsyn to slide next to Eller on the 3rd line, which should improve our secondary scoring
I am really positive about Cole -- he is exactly the kind of player they need most. So I am optimistic that he will fit in well, contribute, and be modestly popular with the home fans.
I have doubts though about how well he'll play the last couple of years on his contract, and if he can stay away from injuries long term.

17. Sounds like Erik Cole was set to go back to Carolina for three years, even at slightly less money than Montreal was offering. Then, Pierre Gauthier added a fourth season and the Hurricanes backed off. That was the difference.
With his excitement to play in a market he's been very successful in, I'm going to go out on a limb and say Cole might just be the Habs very next 50 goal man.
He's going to have an incredible start that will be very infectious throughout the line-up.

Nothing against your post but its funny that a 20g/20-25A/40-45 pts is what people expecting from Cole.
While AK had 20 goals/25 assists/45 pts, 140 hits, +3 last season.
And some people just can't admit it was a good season after all for AK. Actually, some people even think that AK was somehow bad last season. Without his injuries two years ago, AK would have got his 4 straight 20 goals season. The guy just can get any love.
Sorry for highjacking this thread. Please continue.
Oh and my expectation for Cole? 25G/25A ~50PTS
Wouldn't be surprised if he gets even more if he plays all season with Cammy and Plek.

O ya
and 50 for AK too......
When was the last time a team had two 50 goal scorers.
He's moving from Staal feeding him the puck to Plekanec feeding him. With Cammalleri also on the other wing, the Habs have two threats and will probably mean a little less scoring 5-on-5 for Cole. The part he may get better at, is the PP, with guys like Markov and Subban passing to him from the point. Even them shooting, Cole will be right there in front of the net, to screen and possibly deflect pucks.
I'd say 15 goals, 20 assists at even strength, 9 goals, 12 assists on the PP.
Total: 24 goals, 32 assist for 56 points.
Right on the money. That's what he SHOULD good. I have a feeling
he'll underperform along with his linemates though.
Pouliot will score more goals for the Bruins than Cole will score for the Habs.
You're missing the point. Our team shouldn't strive to score goals, they should strive to win the game.
I don't care if Pouliot scores more goal with the Bruins than Cole with the Habs. I care if the Habs win more game with Cole than the Bruins do with Pouliot.
Pouliot wasn't that bad offensively when he was playing with confidence. But he still was a defensive disaster. For every goal he helped scored, he had been the reason for 3 goal against.
Even if he's not on the scoresheet, you know he's the kind of player that will bring a lot to this team by screening the goalies, throwing big hits, using his body to protect the puck down low, creating space for his linemates...
I'm not too worried about his actual stats. Watching hockey and reading a stats sheet are two different things. I hope he plays with a chip on his shoulders, brings something this team lacks, is entertaining to watch and stays healthy.
Honestly Id be happy with 18-25g 40-50pts. Stat wise I'm not really concerned with him but he's def. gonna be better than Moen on the score sheet...
Where I wanna see Cole excel is making his line mates better vice-versa. Meaning that ,lets say he plays with Plek and Cammy, I believe he'll give the potential for Cammy to reach 35 or even 40 goals! and with Plek, giving him another 70+ pts season.
So what I want is seeing Cole making the top 6 in general look much better altogether.
In my opinion forwards need to get 10 points per million they get paid to be worth it.
If Cole gets 45 points i'll feel he earned his pay, if he gets more i'll be happy.
