I remember reading that he just lost his drive, and I believe he had some injury issues as well. (Just from what I recall, very vaguely. Take it with a grain of salt).

Didn't he also retire for about a month last season or am I thinking of someone else?

EDIT: Apparently he played one game in Hershey and told the Caps he wanted to go back to Europe.

He's very injury prone, and he basically quit playing hockey and went back home to Sweden.

Last I knew, he wanted to be loaned to the NLA again like he was last season.

I think the whole reason why he returned to Europe was because he was loaned to the ECHL.
I wonder if he'd be interested in an AHL job..

Yeah, I think I heard that too, that he gave up on hockey or something like it wasn't enjoyable for him anymore.

He did, then went to play in Switzerland (they arranged a loan). Last I heard was that he had asked the Caps to loan him back there again this season, but I'm not sure how solid the source was on that.

If his frustration over his injuries has subsided a bit, perhaps he'd be worth looking into for the Sens. We have a almost all-Sweden team coming up through the ranks, perhaps he'd feel invigorated here.

If I'm remembering correctly both the assists were secondary and he really wasn't impressive in that game at all.

This, plus KK could work his magic on him in the AHL.

Wouldn't be a bad gamble to take on a project for the organization, they showed they are willing to give the players some leeway like Silverberg going back to Sweden and could get through players like Obrien and Daugavins to improve themselves.

Don't be ridiculous, the AHL only has 80 games so he would have had 160 pts. People around here are always trying to sell 160 pt players as 164 pt players, I hate that.

Just saying he wasn't given much of a chance to prove himself and not much leeway for a 1st rounder.

He wasn't given much of a chance, because he sucks.

all I'm saying is that to go in the 1st round u gotta have some talent, and he neevr really was given much of a chacne. If he could stay healthy and get his work ethic back he could be a valuable commodity, and I'm sure some GM somewhere would take that chance. It's be little to no risk cause he would probably get less than 1m on a 1yr deal, but the possible return could be quite high.

It goes to show how unpredictable the draft is. The Capitals had this guy rated ahead of Carlson.

Most Cap fans didn't at the time.

We are just fortunate the Flyers gave GMGM a chance to amend it.

If he had done anything when playing in Switzerland, I'd say a change of scenery would do him good. But he didn't. He only had one assist in 11GP with Langnau. At this point it's hard to see him having any future in North American hockey.

It's a pity, his father was such a great player for the Capitals.
