No, he had 2 years until UFA.

WOW. Great deal. Love it.

One more to go.

AHHHHH hockey cant come soon enough. I havent been this excited for hockey in years. Its not just because of brad richards and hopefully him sparking gaborik. Gaborik also being excited about BR. Its also about locking guys up like AA, Dubi, Sauer, Boyle, and hopefully callahan. Its also about the hope that MDZ, who said he is very determined, to have a come back season. And I think I might be most excited about young Tim Erixon. I love it.

Brooks is to lol at, indeed... He's.. he's just no. Speculates and makes up his own numbers and everything. Ridiculous. Maybe he'll get beat up at the bus stop this year by Torts?

We're happy to announce we have agreed to terms with forward Brandon Dubinsky on a new contract.

New York Rangers Facebook page confirmed it.

question is...that leaves them with what, $2 mill in cap space if they total close to $9 mill together?

So does Wolski get bought out, or what do the Rangers do...$2 mill is just enough to fit in Erixon, correct? But they still probably need another defenseman...not sure the exact status of their cap space at the moment
You are forgetting that we can simply send Zuccarello to minors. His cap hit is $1.75. If we send him down, we will still have 13 NHL forwards.

If you send him down, then we have $12.3 million left(prior to this Dubinsky deal):
Now lets estimate:
$12.3 - $4.2(Duby) - $4.4(Callahan) - $1.75(Erixon) - $.9(Eminger) = $1.05

I still would not mind buying out Wolski to give us some cap room.

Good to know we have Dubs under our control for another four years. A big part of the core.

wooo knew it would get signed all along, lol............and I picked 4.2 per but I think alot of us did

glad its over. Cally should not take long now as they have a basis to go on. Although I value Cally more basically because of his defensive game and shot blocking.

****ing sick signing...Look at those numbers initially...$3.75 for the next two years and hopefully last 2 years he improves enough to make that much.

He is an integral part of the team along with Staal and Cally...They feel like Ranger lifers!

Get cally done Sather

Really relieved to see they skipped arbitration. The cap hit is fair and 4 years is plenty of time.

I don't see Callahan getting much more than Dubinsky. I think his value is about the same, and I am concerned that he may not be big enough long term for the game he plays and may start to rack up injuries.

For the Rangers it's better to front load all deals, so paying him less the first two years isn't great.

Most teams don't care about the cap that much because they never hit it. They care about the actual money they pay. Giving a player more money up front means he will have additional value beyond his real worth by year 3 or 4 of his contract.

Nobody wants to trade Dubinsky now, but who knows what will happen in a few years. It's never bad to have players with extra value.

No, as an RFA, he gets back-loaded. That's how it works. You get the big money in your UFA years
