It's gotta be Gryba here.

I considered Pageau and Caporusso here as well, but both are sink-or-swim, one-way players who COULD work out here, but very well could bust and be career AHL/European League players (as smaller top-6 forwards who can't hack it in the NHL seem to be).

Gryba looks like the better bet to be a player in the big league, IMO.

One way players ? Pageau is actually quite good defensively.

Voted the Page.

I meant one-way in the sense that with his lack of size, he's clearly never going to be an ideal 3rd or 4th line player.

I'm sure if he ever makes the NHL as a top-6 guy, he won't be a total loss on the defensive side of the puck, but clearly, his future is not as a 3rd line defensive shutdown player, or as a 4th line "energy" crash & bang guy.

Oh, got it now. Make sense now.. But I think we are going to see more and more "offensive" 3rd line in the NHL. I think the good old responsible and defensive 3rd line tend to disapear by the years.

I think you can get away with having some pure offense on your 3rd line if you have really defensively responsible top-6 guys like Kesler or Datsyuk, but you're going to need defensive specialists on your roster SOMEWHERE, and unless you've lucked out and been able to find one that can also play in your top 6, then usually the 3rd line is the best spot for your shutdown forwards.

There are exceptions to any rule, but I don't see 3rd line shutdown players going away any time soon.

wow, Derek Grant is getting no respect. Watch him this season in the AHL

Pageau is nice and everything but let's see what he does this season in juniors. Grant was burning the BCHL a few years ago.

Blood, Gryba, Pageau, Sorensen, O'Brien all deserve to be in the top-20

The hockey game is changing. With all europeans making the NHL, the skill is massively going up. It allows teams to have skill on their first 3 lines. Put your best 2-way players on your 3rd line (unless they produce like mad)

It would make sense to have a 3rd line of :

Foligno-Regin-Alfredsson

but we need Alfie (and possibly Regin) in the top-6 this season, so maybe next year.

But I could also see a line of

Silfverberg-Zibanejad-Alfredsson

Wild that O'Brien, for being a 1st rounder, hasn't cracked this list yet.

JOB has the best chance at sticking in the NHL out of the remaining prospects IMO

Gryba is a Carkner replacement, a more physical 6th/7th defenceman with lesser pugilistic committments/abilities.

Pageau or bust at number 19.

And they will be once Filatov, Butler, Greening, and Condra are removed midway through the season.

Lehner "Mr. Op": Please get the ranking going until top 25 at the very least so that prospects can be promoted once graduated. Of course, a new poll would probably need to be conducted at the mid-point as well.
