Bears sign Daren Machesney

Why would a team thats shaping up to look good on paper want Daren McSwissCheeseney? Just looking at this guys stats(and having seen him play in person in the ECHL)he's terrible. I get he used to play in Hershey(but wasn't that off an Entry Level contract?) I hardly ever question Hersheys moves but this one has left me dumbfounded.

What is the goaltending situation in Hershey this year? If it is Holtby and Sabourin, he is probably there to fill in as camp fodder and then end up in the ECHL.

Well, then it is most likely that he will be the veteran presence in South Carolina with Grubauer as the promising youngster needing mentored.

I think this about sums it up. Todd Ford, starter in SC past couple years, wasn't resigned iirc.
